If you are using Photoshop CS5. You need to visit the Adobe website and free upgrade to the latest Camera Raw. 7.3 from memory. It's the latest version. Then you will have no problems using PEF or DNG raw files. It will save you a lot of agony and ebay seller fees....
The latest Adobe RAW converter only works in CS6.

No insurance, couldn't afford it ! (I know, I know).
BTW, Metz wouldn't fix the first one (now edited my post).
Looking for something else now, inexpensive with plenty of power and manual options. I found PTTL pretty hopeless most of the time.
In fact I was finding the K5 and Metz 58 combination utterly abysmal - totally unreliable metering. Tried everything. Couldn't update the firmware on the Metz because the app kept crashing. So it could have been that.
Any advice for a replacement? the Sigma 610 looks good except the lack of manual options. The Metz had an extraordinary range and flexibility and I think I'll miss this.
A bit late now, but I had the same problem with the Metz update until I turned the flash off during the install of the new firmware, found that out by accident, nothing in the help files, you'd think the software would detect it.

My K5 was totally unreliable too, with random over exposure, my K-01 was the same. The update (now in version 4) cured both. I've seen reports of people with genuine Pentax flash having the same problem with no chance of updating, is this true?

It hasn't arrived yet but I'm expecting it by the end of the week. Although you order on his website you have to wait for him to send you a paypal money request.

Thanks for the tip, I'm thinking that picking up a corner with a scalpel might be the way to pull off the original ones. Not sure if there will be any residue left to pick off, we'll see.
If there is Ken a little Methylated Spirit on a cotton bud usually dissolves the adhesive, then a wipe with kitchen roll. If you find you need something stronger then lighter fluid (petrol) works well.

Both evaporate cleanly, so wipe with the kitchen roll whilst still wet, the idea is the kitchen roll absorbs the adhesive.

Thanks Chris, dark red 'lizard' cowhide now ordered
Hi Ken

How have you got on with these?

How difficult is the original skin to remove?

There is on tip I can give you, used 'as is' the adhesive 'grabs' instantly, but if you lick the adhesive (I know, you can try a drop (literally one drop) of Fairy Liquid in a tumbler of water, but spit works much better), then you have around a minute to slide it around to place it perfectly, use an old credit card as a 'squeegee' when in place. It will fix permanently in around 10 minutes.

This method does have the advantage as an excuse for a fine Malt to get rid of the taste (not that there is any)!!

Why bother with a Q10 when SRS are selling Q's at such low price
I love the look and the colour options! The Q never caught my imagination, however, the Q10 holds my attention like my little 110 does.
You can have any colour options you want on most any camera, the 'leatherette' covering on the front of most cameras can be changed for anything you want, it's only held on with double sided tape apparently, a die cut for the Q snakeskin is what I'm waiting for as I had on my old ME Super.

That's quite impressive Neil. The Q seems to have got a difficult exposure (black bird with a white breast) spot on with quite a bit of detail in both.

The Pentax Q-K adapter with a shutter built in will give you sharp stills images, but at a higher price than the camera!!

I've found this red dot finder which looks spookily like the Pentax, note this is for the 20mm (7/8th of an Inch) scope mount.

How are you finding the 3rd party K mount adapter? I found that without a shutter it was almost impossible to take any shots that were not blurred or were at best 'soft' due to either camera or subject movement, even on a tripod.

How?

I bought three broken Optios (various models) that all share the same battery as the Q on eBay, all with batteries, chargers cables etc. New prices for a Pentax battery and charger is £73.00

Feeling smug,
Yes but for another £26.00 they will throw in another camera body currently with the SRS deal LOL.

I use NP-50 batteries around £4.00 each, same battery, seem to work just as long (or as short) as the genuine Pentax ones do. NP-50 is the designation for the generic battery of that size.

You can't stop down a 110 lens as they have no diaphragm mechanism. The aperture is defined by the degree of opening of the Auto 110 shutter.
You can if you adapt the adapter
