BTW... Both of my lenses are in perfect working order, and are totally unmarked, 'as new', and certainly don't have any dust within them. Quite simply, they've both seen very little use!
I do still have all the paperwork!!!
By the way, I had the SDM replaced after I returned from my holiday in Spain, under warranty, by the approved Pentax company Johnsons Photopia, based in Stoke.
That's a good thing!!!

In fact, I've barely used my camera at over the past two years, mainly due to my other hobby, music (acoustic guitar and piano accordion) and of course the convenience these days of smart-phones with reasonable performance cameras fitted! Sacrilege!!
So, it's time to face reality, and part with my lovely DA*16-50 F2.8 lens … very sad, but this will allow me to fund the re-furbishing of the reeds in my accordion … without me feeling guilty … and getting those 'if looks could kill' glances from my wife!!!
I bought this lens about 3 years ago, used it on holiday in Spain, and since then, it has been practically unused, except for the occasional visit out of its box to remind myself how enjoyable photography can actually be, and to re-acquaint myself with the various buttons on my K20D.
So, this lens is in first class, 'as new' condition. It's very fast and very accurate at focusing. As with a DA*55 F1.4 prime lens which I sold on this forum just before Xmas, the buyer will be getting an absolute bargain; a great lens in great condition. I hesitated in putting the DA*16-50 F2.8 up for sale, since I love the lens so much. But at least once it's sold, I will still have my beloved 18-250 Pentax lens to keep me company.
However …
*** Just to confuse the issue, there is a possibility of me parting with my 18-250 Pentax lens instead, if anybody is interested in this one … whichever sells first. Again, the 18-250 lens has seen very little use, probably less even than my DA*16-50 F2.8, and is also in superb 'as new' condition. It has a UV filter fitted. Should I sell this 18-250 lens first, then I would retain my beloved DA*16-50 F2.8 lens. ***

The accessories which I have for sale with the DA*16-50 F2.8 lens would cost about £170 today.
I'd like to sell everything as a complete package if possible; £500 for the lens and £80 for the accessories, but I realise this might not be acceptable to the buyer.
So, for sale . . .
#) Pentax DA 18-250 f3.5 – 6.3 AL[IF] … £275
(with Hood, and Caps, and Pentax lens bag).
or (whichever sells first)
#) Pentax Lens smc DA*16-50mm F2.8 ED AL (IF) SDM … £500
(with Hood, and Caps, and Pentax lens bag).
Accessories for the DA*16-50 F2.8 lens: Together £80
#) Kenko Circular Pol Filter 77mm
#) Hoya Pro1 UV Filter 77mm
#) Cokin Wide Angle Holder
#) Cokin Adapter Ring
#) Cokin ND2 Grad Filter
#) Cokin P2 ND4 Sunset Grad Filter
Thanks to all for reading.

I've not commented on the forum for a while, which reflects the fact that I've not been involved in photography for a couple of years now; just work and DIY commitments.
Consequently, I am selling my 55mm F1.4 lens.
I bought it new from SRS about two years ago, checked it out for 30 minutes or so, then put it away and never used it again!
Utterly shameful!!
The lens is still in 'as new' condition.
It includes both caps, the hood, the original box and the pounch.
I'd prefer to sell it as a cash transaction, and would prefer the buyer to visit and test, before puchasing it. That gives everybody assurance and peace of mind. I live in south Cheshire.
I can arrange to post it, but I'd like any cheque to clear first in that case.
I'm looking for offers around £450.
Let's see if I can successfully attach the photos now!

Thank you both. Sorry it took me some time to reply; I've only just found time to check the site again.
John, I'd really love to be able to come to the Open Night tonight, but I live down near Nantwich. Such a pity. As you know, I work not a million miles away from you, but by the time I've driven home to South Cheshire and arrived home for about 6:30pm, it wouldn't make sense to then pop out and drive all the 40 - 50 miles North back again to Atherton! A real pity.
Davex, I have a few mags from the last month, so I'll look through them to see if Digitalphoto is one of them.
Many thanks.
Alan.

I feel a bit dim asking for advice about Elements 6, but I've had an extremely busy year at work (what recession), and had very little time to experiment with my nice K20 and associated equipment, and indeed, with Elements.
Basically, I would like to take several kilted figures from one photo and add them to another, the second photo having a much nicer backdrop.
On Tues 18th Aug, I attended my brother's wedding in Scotland, albeit not as the official photographer I hasten to add. Sadly, the weather was atrocious, and nearly all of the photography was done indoors. Plenty of practice using my 360 flashgun then!
I presume I need to use 'layers' to achieve the desired result, but if the members of the forum could advise on some of the finer details I would be indebted ... for life!
I may even be brave and post one or two pics to the forum!
Best wishes to all.

It certainly is a bit confusing! I've had several more periods of experimenting with the K20D and from what I've learned, I guess it's just a case of becoming familier with how it behaves under various setups and conditions. Although, it still seems odd that you can't take the shutter speed back up the numbers (faster) having first been able to reduce the shutter speed in P mode (with flash raised).
I tried doing a similar experiment with my wife's Sony A100...yuk! This made me realise just how much more control you do actually have over the K20D, and how easy it is to use.
Thanks again for your help, Matt.

I'm just logging-off at work (got to rush before they lock me in for the weekend), and will read your post later this evening.
There seems to be a learning curve involved here, which I'll have to get my head round later this evening.
I will reply later, but for the moment very many thanks for your detailed response.
Kind regards.
Alan.

As a newbie to photography I sincerely hope that I’m not about to make a fool of myself here! Wouldn’t be the first time, and certainly won’t be the last I guess!!
I have an anomaly/query regarding the shutter speed whilst using the in-built flash.
Whilst experimenting with the K20D & Pentax 16-45 lens, and whilst using the in-built flash in ‘P’ Program Mode, I noticed that I could reduce the shutter speed (using the front speed-dial), but then having reduced it, could never then re-increase the shutter speed back to any previous stop. Control over the aperture was however still possible.
In more detail:
Please note: through the function button options, the flash was simply set to the first option on the left ‘Flash On’.
Green Mode:
Auto Flash is activated, (A+ Flash Symbol) displays in top panel.
ISO fixed on 400.
Camera chooses:
1/60th Sec exposure.
f4.0
Picture quality good.
If I then move to P on the Control Dial;
All settings remain as in the Green Mode test above, except A+Flash Symbol changes to just the Flash Symbol, as would be expected.
Picture quality good.
However, if I then reduce the shutter speed using the front speed dial to:
1/45th or 1/30th Sec exposure etc., for example, the camera then refuses to allow me to return to 1/45th or 1/60th should I choose to, or any faster shutter speed. It will only allow me to reduce the shutter speed, and never increase it. Control over the aperture is however still possible.
Could I ask please: Is this a fault in the K20D/firmware? I’m still on V1.0.
(I’m keeping my head down behind the parapet for the moment) !!
Many thanks.
