It seems my gamma had wandered since the last check too. The histogram is very high at the right suggesting burnt highlights, but if you push the shot to reveal them as I have done below, there are only small patches of blown cloud.

I find this is a good site for checking your gamma settings... doesn't provide any colour info of course, but making sure you can differentiate between the very darkest & very lightest blocks does work wonders. (originally shared by mikew I believe) link

I'd be a little worried if I'd taken a shot with the focus screen hanging down. Is the mirror scratched ? Are the mirror or screen out of alignment ?
I'd keep a very close eye on AF performance if I were you.

Spend the money you'd spend on filters on photographic insurance instead. Then you'll have the best IQ & peace of mind.

I created a shortcut to the 32bit version of windows explorer & had to try & remember to use that for a thumbnail view.

That looks promising John. Imagine the fun to be had at 8mm.

The Sigma 8-16mm is now out in Canon & Nikon mount so I'd expect some reviews to show up soon. No timescale on the Pentax mount though as far as I'm aware.

I'm guessing that may be too wide for landscapes though & would be better suited to an urban environment when space is at a premium.

I was fully prepared for softish corners with the Sigma, but I'm surprised it was an issue on an aps-c sized sensor.
