Me too. I now carry filter remover wrenches in each camera bag, essential for polarizers which have a habit of getting stuck.

Welcome, by all reports the new 50mm f1.4 is outstanding and if I recall the Cameraville on YouTube did a comparison review which favoured the new lens over others. I picked one up at launch and the focus was impressively fast and quiet, however I opted in the end for a smaller 50mm prime simply because I wanted a lighter more portable lens as an alternative to my 24-70 f2.8 zoom. I am inclined to think the new lens is aimed primarily at studio and fashion type shoots although would obviously perform excellently in other situations. Maybe others who have actually bought the lens can report on how they find it.

I like all these, no one is a favourite. As Lennybloke mentions it is a shame about the barriers in front of the palace although I think cropping would put the building too low in the frame but maybe an inverted graduated filter in lightroom to reduce the exposure in the foreground would give the barriers less prominence. The raised viewpoint works well.

You bought a digital imaging device that you personally use for stills only.
It's late 2019. All cameras today can do stills and video, and Pentax itself has had this ability for 10 years.
The reason Pentax is downvoted because of it's video capabilities is because they are very poor compared to every other camera brands capabilities today.
There's really not much more to it than that.

Actually there is a lot more to it, not all cameras perform equally well in stills either; if it is video you want then look elsewhere BUT if you want the best rendered landscape shots, astrophotography, buildings and interiors you would be hard pressed to beat the K1. Instead of complaining about Pentax video why not complain about how other manufacturers don't have the features that shifting the sensor brings that are unique to Pentax? The argument is exactly the same. For some reason I have seen several YouTubers recently complaining about how they miss IBIS when they switch from mirrorless to DSLR but as we know the K1 gives the best of both for low light shots. These are the reasons reviews are generally meaningless unless they are targeted at a particular field.

With 2 months still to go, I've just had a close encounter with artificial Christmas trees, artificial reindeer, plastic Father Christmas, strings of Christmas lights and gaudy baubles. Is this a record?

It was at a garden centre, of course. I went to buy a real plant, but needless to say they didn't have what I wanted.

I’m in a hotel with a cheesy blue Christmas tree in reception. Surely not time to dig out last year’s garden centre purchase of an accordion playing singing Santa yet?

I suddenly have three days free based in Marlborough later this week and would be grateful for any suggestions; on the list is Calke Abbey and Avebury, more ideas anyone?

Watching a 2017 Dragons Den episode the other night a couple of guys came on with software which automatically searches for discount coupons whenever you shop on your desktop; naturally they got funding so I downloaded it - called Pouch. It embeds in your search engine and automatically finds any available discount vouchers for any online shop. Tonight I ordered a couple of new Cactus triggers on ebay and a 10% voucher applied saving me £13.00 so it definitely works and is worth knowing about. This voucher by the way applies to all current ebay purchases which will include the SRS Microsystems ebay shop for instance.

Key words in your first page will help greatly with searches, like wedding, weddings, wedding photographer, photography, events, geographic coverage and so on plus any special or unique attributes.

Having previously used a K50 (I loaned to my stepdaughter and unlikely to see it again) and unless I have just got better the K1 is a step up in image quality, no question and you will see it if you like doing prints. The biggest advantage for me is the dynamic range and also with 36mp there is more flexibility in cropping. Whilst I use the f2.8 zooms I am increasingly using lightweight prime lenses which helps with the weight. It doesn't sound as if you take loads of shots but with 350,000 actuations and robust construction it should give years of use.

That being said picking up the K50 after using the K1 for a few months I recall how compact and light it felt and before I "lost" it started using it again on longer walks. It is a balance between image quality and convenience.
