Pentax needs to attract new buyers, not just serve existing customers as they will be a diminishing market, so new cameras are necessary to keep up with developments and offer alternative options. This means that new models/upgrades are needed at least every couple of years as new buyers are unlikely to want a four year old or older design.

I do wish though they would spend a little time on the accessories like full frame teleconverters and extension tubes, they cannot involve much development and would make the marque more rounded.

Yesterday whilst processing some snaps on my iMac I got the dreaded coloured wheel then a message saying there is a problem and it needs to restart. Well it didn’t, restart that is, just got stuck firing up. I spent all evening trying everything from google, some requiring the dexterity of Rachmaninov on the keys, but they made no difference. The technology “expert” (SWMBO) said to switch it off and leave it till morning, and hey presto it worked! I hate humble pie for breakfast.

What I really like is the limited colour palette with the wheat coloured grass and in no.5 the ochre colour in the sky, making a nice mix with the dark trees and birds. You have taken the flat light in these and turned it to advantage in making nice textural images.

I almost didn’t bother looking as when you have seen one murmuration you have seen them all - how wrong I was! These are on another level (if you pardon the pun), very beautiful compositions.

I agree, there is no point trying to compete with the likes of Sony as Canikon have to do to keep their market share but an interesting approach to find a niche market being left by the others. Leica and Fujifilm take a similar approach with their rangefinder bodies so there is good diversity at the moment. I wonder whether Ricoh have researched using the K-mount for mirrorless and decided that technically it couldn’t compete with the new larger mount systems. I do wish though they would revisit MF as Pentax has a relatively large lens range which newcomers are struggling to match, but not for much longer.

I think spending a wet evening In a Premier Inn outside Hull I would get pretty introspective too, but fail to be as poetic.

Finally had a haircut today in a new village barber. They are planning a new competitive strategy as soon as rules allow - a free whisky or gin with each trim, that’s won me over!

Zooming in you (or the lens!) have nailed it. Pin sharp on the doggie’s eyes, great result.

Years ago I was visiting some friends who had moved to North Yorkshire when their six year old came out with: ”Eee Mam there’s horse in’t gaaarden!” “I see you’ve settled in then!”
