Thanks very much all, LennyBloke I have posted the colour photo on Flickr: link and my website: link. Womble you are right about the white fence, instead of cropping I have locally reduced the white so it is a bit less obvious.

As I said the fog hung around for a couple of days so where do you go for moody shots? A church graveyard of course; I am kicking myself for cropping off the top of the spire in one! Had some fun with Silver Efex currently on trial.Comment Image

Down to Cornwall again for a week, after two days of fog (unfortunately not at water level) a forecast of a bright morning with some mist got me out of bed early only to discover the spare batteries I had charged ready were still at home! The one in the camera was showing half power so it was like the days of film when you rationed your shots. Anyhow here is one I liked as the boat was facing sideways for once.Comment Image

Assuming you can see the screen.....which is almost impossible when the sun shines
Just to pick up on this point, on the K1 you can quickly adjust the brightness of the rear screen so it can be seen in most lighting conditions and is something I use often at the seaside for instance. And of course as the screen tilts you can adjust It slightly to improve it.

All these comments are based on what forum members like and whether they would buy the new camera or not, but that isn’t the issue; Pentax desperately needs to grow its modest user base by attracting new owners and for a flagship model like this that means photographers using other kit, which might well have features like the tilting screen. Such a feature is typically one of those you don’t think you need until you have it, so it is astonishing that the marketing department (if there is one) would not press this issue very hard. I get the impression that this camera is very much driven by the technical developers which is fine but someone there needs to do a reality check. It will be interesting to see what market sector this is targeted at, is there one where people would buy mirrorless just because of its smaller size but would prefer a DSLR even if that came with compromises? Perhaps there is but I would have thought the fewer compromises the better.

I really like the contrasting blue background, like everyone else by the time i thought about it the flowers had gone over.

With the tech around today both hard and soft I don’t see why it should not be possible to have the rear screen display wirelessly available on a smartphone with touch control

Perhaps Pentax have something up their sleeve after all 😀
There is the Connect2 app for remote working which has the advantage of touch screen focus, I use it occasionally on a mini iPad but can’t get it to pair up on my iPhone.

I am not sure this strategy of leaked snippets before launch is a good one, after all we saw the mock-up a year ago now so this long drawn-out series of teasers is getting a bit wearisome and by the time it launches it will probably be an anticlimax. It’s just another DSLR after all, the only reason I can think is to show that there is still life in the brand but the snail-like progress is not comparing favourably with outputs of other brands.

A lovely shot, I find the simpler windows like this one have more resonance than the grander stained glass ones in cathedrals.

With Trump nominated for the Nobel peace prize you could be right.
