See the purchase package on the SRS website (and others) for what is included.

Presumably manuals cannot be produced until the software is finalized. Where would one find details of the UK retail K-1 package two months before release?

Just viewed the box contents for the K-1 and concerned that no instruction manual is mentioned. The K50 comes with a superb English-only manual with which I was able to gets to grips with the huge range of functions and options over a long period, and still use it to check. Please don't tell me it comes with a cd or online download because that is simply not as convenient, portable or readily available when needed. At nearly 5x the cost for the K-1 surely that's not too much to ask?

On the Saturday and Monday the K1 will be demonstrated so those are my preferred days; the Theta 360 will be on the other days if that's your thing.

I don't get all these negative comments about the K1 features; if it's not what you want the K3II will give you a fixed screen and 24 mp. It's having the choice that matters. This follows a long term strategy of 1. Retaining Pentax users with enthusiast level affordable aps-c bodies, 2. hitting the wedding photo market with medium format, and 3. filling the gap with this professional standard FF dslr. No doubt more bodies will follow, possibly a cheaper FF once the new lens range has been established. I am sure this camera will be a great success and maybe Sigma etc. will review their position on the K mount.

The facility to use the K1 in crop mode for aps-c lenses is attractive, as at 15mp it is close to the 16 mp of my K50 so assuming the pixel sensitivity is better I shouldn't see a loss of IQ with those lenses. The K50 with its polycarbonate shell is considerably lighter and more compact than the K3 & K5 and with its lightweight 18-55 lens will be worth retaining for when that matters. The K1 will be good for optimum shots and low light so a good partnership I'm looking forward to.

Fair do's John. Watford is a bit of a trek but I will be at the NEC show next month. Just a shame we won't be able to take one home!

Who's going to the SRS weekend?

Re. Cayman's post. Whoever he is quoting is being astonishingly offensive and as my brother has Aspergers' Syndrome I can tell you his derogatory use of this condition is grossly inaccurate and cruel. He should be shut down.

I can't see any real value in the way the screen is articulated. I think I'd be happier if it was more like the MX-1 or hinged at the side as other males have done. It does look a weak point in the design but I'll happily be proved wrong.
That was my first thought but in one video (DP Review I think) they held the camera upside down by the screen to show how robust it was, and maybe that is the whole point - it is designed with multipoint support to avoid a weak and vulnerable single hinge. Obviously a lot of thought has gone into this.

Looking forward to some cracking shots in the gallery!

No decision was needed, as soon as I saw pre-orders available at SRS, I signed up for one from SRS, with battery grip for £1702.99 including postage.

Some of us have to be early adopters!

(Now I will have a K3 and grip Silver Edition for sale in April, and I have some other choice gear that will sell well!)

The promotion stresses that this is targeted at Pentax owners with older 35mm lenses, and that despite the as yet limited new FF range there is a large body of lenses available. However there is the question as to whether these will give the best quality of image with a 36 MP sensor (and that is great news) or will we end up replacing them with the new lenses? I hope to see reviews in the future testing some older lenses as a comparison.
