Well chaps....I'm not going to bore you with my amateur opinion on this fabulous, well made, quite focusing lens....the owner of our local camera shop refered to it as a real lens...but I've just re-discovered my camera.....what if I set the contrast, a faster shutter speed (bit windy today) to stop the cherry blossum moving, or may be dial in a low f setting.....etc etc...oh that's what causes under exposure.....oh doesn't that look sharp......having fun....

Read the detail on another thread on here posted by Matthew on using the flash properly....very useful.

Now where is the sun?

Thanks for the advice...very greatful.

Just noticed....I have the filters on my 300mm zoom if I needed them for outdoor shots.

Ordered with Nicky at https://www.srsmicrosystems.co.uk/...free delivery.

Noticed this in info on lens...

"When mounted on a Pentax digital SLR camera body, this medium-telephoto lens offers a focal length of 84.5mm in the 35mm format. Coupled with its large F1.4 maximum aperture, it is ideal for portraiture applications."

Need some advice

Poised to get this for my K20D...mainly for indoor portraiture with/without(?) flash, but for the odd flower or bird outside etc

Pentax smc DA* 55mm F1.4 SDM Lens

Should I get a filter? UV or polarising...both??

Not subscribing to Pentaxusers at present....any discounts to be had with https://www.srsmicrosystems.co.uk/, free next day delivery etc?

Bit of an amateur but learning fast

All advice greatfully received.

Following not taken by me....but probably how it should be done.

Mine was hand held supported on a fence post near the NW end of the runway. And its a crop.

It was a regular occurrence to hear the double bang of the sonic boom as it left UK high above Cornwall for the states...around about 11 every morning, as I recall....technology seems to be going backwards!
