They also have the distinct advantage that in the very rare cases where an engine does fail, you can land in a field. Pilots are all trained to fly engine-off approaches and landings, and the sensible ones practise such techniques.
Actually Chris in fact this happened on our final approach to land, the pilot who has been flying for many years turned off the engine and we landed on a glide approach. I had no doubt that we would land safely but we were all surprised to say the least

Thanks for all your comments

As Chris mentions above it wasn't until I had taken part in some formation flying had I realised how hard the 2 pilots were working to maintain their distance and speed all the time.

Great stuff. Where did you fly from? I see you're based in Essex, and there's lots of mud around. Rochester perhaps? Southend?
Thanks Chris, the Job is affiliated to the Civil Service Flying Section who fly out of Rochester Airport so we flew over the Isle of Sheppey and the Thames Estuary.

Good ones Rob, you had good light, god positioning and nice backgrounds, photos are nicely sharp with good prop blur, well done (I'm a bit envy about air-air as well ).
Thanks Piotro, I was aware that I had to get these right first time as I couldn't ask the pilots to go round again if I got it wrong!

Thanks for sharing, not often you see images like this taken by people with kit we can buy and access as photography enthusiast's.
Thanks for your comment, the K-5 & 18-250mm combination performed very well.

These images were taken during a Flying Taster Day organised with work last month. I used a K-5 with a Pentax 18-250mm for versatility more than anything else and it is my first attempt at air-to-air photography and I thoroughly enjoyed it

The rest are on my flickr page and they were taken through a window from the rear of the aircraft that I was in.

For Sale is a Giottos aluminum tripod kit in a good used condition. There are a few marks on the legs and the head but I would describe it as being consistent with frequent use. Having said that everything is in good working order.

The original box will be included but there are no instructions or small tool bag, I bought this s/h from a forum member about 2 years ago and they were missing then.

This is a portrait using window light of my fiancee Jenny using the K-5 & Tamron f2.8 90mm. Taken handheld at f3.5, 1/30 and ISO 640. I converted it to mono using Silkypix.

I don't take portraits very often so C&C welcome but I tried to use the rules of portrait photography i.e. wide aperture & focus on eye closest to the camera.
