Dave,

Have a look at the build logs in Special Tech Build Logs
If you're building from scratch, suggest a nice easy case to work on like a Fractal Design Arc Midi, get a Be Quiet 550 System Psu from Scan and thats your base covered for the next few years - Less than a £100 for both.
Ram should be 8GB - 16GB - Stick with something that is not finicky like Corsair - couple of 4GB or 8GB sticks of Vengeance DDR3 1600 for £50 something for 8GB, £80-£90 for 16GB
Motherboard? - Asus all the way (Asus P8Z77-V LX Intel Z77). Pick your CPU, probably an Intel i3750K (seems to be the popular kiddie at the moment). Graphics? Pick your poison, AMD or Nvidia - CPU has graphics but the Intel driver is nowhere near as good as the 2 graphics giants. Something like an AMD HD7850 perhaps? Storage? SSD for OS and programs, try the Samsung 840 Pro 128GB, and get a couple of 2 TB std HDDs.
Keyboard and mouse are personal choices..
Monitor? Dell have a good reputation, Ultrasharp Hs for photographers, HMs for a bit less money. Difference is colour gamut. Both types are IPS so good viewing angles. Have a look in TFTCentral for reviews.

A few, i'm from Cork. 'Rparmar' sometimes on here is based in Limerick. 'DinneenP' is from your part of the world. Welcome!

That may be true to an extent robbiwc, but only in terms of our own monitors, and they will all be different. When I make a new wallpaper for my system it looks visibly sharper when I make it exactly the correct pixel dimensions. I'm not sure the ppi matters in this context.

But for the web and for printing it has no relevance at all, as the viwer has their own display or the print has its own requirements.
Consider someone selling images or perhaps showing examples of work. As you say, if you create a wallpaper to match your monitor it seems sharper, then if you are presenting a wedding shoot and use something like the aforementioned iPad 4 or perhaps a Nexus 10 (PPI of 300) surely it might make sense in this context to create a set for the device you may be presenting with for that extra pop!

I often wonder if for the actual best image viewing you should output the jpeg / tiff out from RAW to the PPI of your monitor. i.e my LCD is 24" with a resolution of 1920x1200 which is a ppi of 94.34, or if you're displaying on something like an iPad 4 then with a PPI of 264.

New Pricing: £535 or €615

After speaking with some potential buyers I feel that in the interest of transparency I should mention that this lens has history. I bought this lens from Asahiflex on PentaxForums. He sold the lens to me on the understanding that he thought it not critically sharp. When I got the lens, I checked and he is correct if I zoom to something like 200% but I then went out and used it for taking real pictures and not pointing it at a wall or test chart. I've shown some of the results above and anyone can visit my photo album and look at the originals and see for themselves using this link Full sized images, also as reference the Original Sale with Asahiflex's description

I've also adjusted price..... So £535 firm or €615 and I'll handle postage. You'll also note that the price has appreciated since I bought it, well you can blame the banks and the falling value of real cash, the expectant rush of Pentaxian's looking for FF optics in the near future and also my own opinion of the actual value of this lens. If you're interested, send me a PM. I have been asked to provide raw files and I shall be taking some shots tomorrow and will probably upload the raw files to my Dropbox account. Again, if you wish to view, send me a PM.
Thanks for looking.

As with my other sale item on here. Getting out of zooms because I just don't use them.
So what we have here is a boxed, premium zoom with caps and the original hood. Power zoom function works perfectly.
