Oh I loved that little needle I still have my K1000 with a roll of film inside, no idea what could be on it as I have lived here 10 years and never used it!!

Thanks Bill, if I do that does it still also set the shutter speed for my desired aperture setting?

Thanks.

Thank you very much, photos are now brighter but I agree a slight adjustment of shutter speed makes things even better. I cannot find that info on the green button in the manual, thanks for the information.

Now I just need to find out where all the dirt is that makes my viewfinder view look like I am watching a flock of blackbirds!! The sensor is clear and I can't see anything obvious on the mirror so I guess it's the "sighting thingy" in the top of the camera. Sorry for the technical wording

Haha no kidding about the manual focus - I assumed that once set to infinity everything would be fine but in trying to focus on the moon yesterday I found it was not far enough away to set the lens to infinity

Luckily the moon moves relatively slowly compared to my position here on the ground!!

Hi, thank you. I have already set the custom menu to accept my lenses which do not have an "A" on them so I assume are "M"

I always set the focal length when turning the camera on but what I have NOT done is press the green button before taking the shot. Basically what you are saying is that I have to press two different buttons for each shot? That could be my downfall thank you, I will test that although it could be tricky for a moving target!!

Thanks very much, I will post my findings.

Hi Folks, I am new to this DSLR stuff and now have a K-r with loads of lenses from my old K1000.

My problem is that when I use my old manual lenses on the K-r I am unable to set the aperture number manually and all my photos are very dark. In some cases (particularly my Cosina 200mm) I cannot compensate enough with the exposure setting and even at +3 the photos remain far too dark

Please any advice is appreciated.
