I really like that.

A great composition. Lovely colours and tonal depth. Seriously very, very good.

Number three for me.

Perfect composition and exposure. Really lovely that.

There has, in my humble opinion, never been anything wrong with post processing.

In my earliest days of film cameras, I had a darkroom setup at home and many happy hours were spent messing around with dodge and burn, changing chemical mixes and generally trying to get the most impact out of processed photographs.

The absolute delight of digital photography is that it's possible to do all that and more. And without spending hours in the darkness playing with chemicals that are probably not that healthy.

Making images look as good as you can is surely the whole point. However, they need to be good in the first place. You can enhance sharpness and colour depth, crop, pull up shadow detail and trim off highlights. But there is no software that can get the composition right in the first place.

Really like the second one. Slightly unusual composition, but to my eyes it works really well. Nice dynamic range and colour depth, and the reflections work perfectly. Excellent capture.

Thanks!

I always shoot RAW and use Photoshop, so the basic stuff is done in ACR. Just need some more time to play with settings. Enlarging massively in Camera Raw, I think I've got the 'normal' sharpness and NR settings about right now. I just need to work on the brightness to get a little more impact without losing highlight detail.

Absolutely cracking images Phil.

I've downloaded a couple for a close look and the detail, dynamic range and colour depth are staggeringly good.

I'm more than happy with the K-5, but if I ever think about buying a lottery ticket, I know where the winnings would go!

All the shots with it do seem to take (and need) a fair bit of post processing, but I don't mind that at all. Some of these to date could take a little more brightness, I agree, but monitor calibrations differ and I'm always nervous about losing any detail.

Still in the learning phase, but I'm enormously pleased with it so far.

Many thanks Derek.

I'm very pleased with the results so far, though (and as mentioned in another thread), I'm surprised at the level of sharpening that seems to work ideally. Far higher than I'm used to with other cameras. On the other hand, the images respond very well and the available detail is excellent.

Not much use to you (though Wicklow is lovely), but I can thoroughly recommend the Wrest gardens. A stunning place.

All on the K5. A mix of lenses, but the majority are on the 35mm 2.4.

Very pleasant morning wandering around Wrest Park with Papa Laz.

Just a few very quick shots. Starting to get to grips with the K5, but it's fiddly getting the post-process right. Some of these may be a little 'over done' to some eyes. Very happy with them though.
