Its a Pk - it would a fair bit more expensive if it had a PK/A adapter. There's a guy on Ebay selling them for £69 !

Tamron 70-350mm Zoom, with a constant F4.5 aperture. Fabulous condition, and also comes with K mount adapter, Tamron front and rear caps, and personal suitcase. No fog, haze, bugs, scratches or oil leaks. Focusing is smooth, no notchiness.

If some photo shots are required, please ask.

I think the first one has a little camera shake.

Given the lens the second one looks OK doesn't it? No disrespect intended but the Pentacon was never a first tier lens was it?

If the orgininal is 3.9 meg you're shooting JPEG then I guess.

Why not shoot RAW and use SilkyPIX and possibly be very pleasantly surprised. Then again maybe you don't fancy RAW.

Mike
LOL ! the posts are getting out of sequence cos i'm answering 3 poeple

But yes Mike - i use RAW all the time, just for this thread i was using .jpgs for speed of posting.
I use PS CS4 extended + ACR 5.3

And of course, you're right about that Pentacon - certainly not first tier at all. I should flip out some of my less used lenses, + the 500 Pent + Tam 70-350, and put all the funds to one decent sharp Tele

That wall looks OK to me. Not spectacular maybe but OK.

I can't recall if you shoot RAW or not but some processing from the RAW would sharpen it up a bit.

The security lamp and wall look OK too really.

I didn't follow the catch in focus debate so I'm not too sure what that is but it looks like better weather lets your lenses perform better which is hardly surprising.

350mm at f16 at 1/200th is f11 at 1/400th which is pretty much hand held territory.

I wonder if you're being a bit too demanding of your lenses. I use my 70ltd wide open and it's OK as is the 35mm AL but we're not comparing like with like then.

Mike
Because of posting here and trying to keep up with the replies etc, i didnt bother with RAW, just .jpgs straight from the cam with zero processing, apart from resizing for Bucket.

I have the feeling you could be right. Maybe i expect too much. Funds dont allow for nice sharp modern glass

It does look to me like a soft lens issue and not a focussing one.

I'm in Aylesbury and you're quite welcome to come over, but do bear in mind I have little experience with older lenses!
Maybe we could meet up at an RSPB reserve - you ever been to Ottmoor ? Or is there a reserve nearer you ? I'd be happy for you to shoot with my Cam using your lenses. I dont have any quality modern glass.

You're right Gwyn - didnt think of that ! Should have gone right to 100.

Taken 2 more shots with the 500mm Pentacon this time. All other criteria the same. Resized from 3.9mb to under 1mb

1st shot: F16 - 1/160th - 500mm - ISO 200 - Spot

2nd shot: F22 - 1/80th - 500mm - ISO 200 - Spot

Those other soft pics were taken in dull light. Today the sun is out, so i lowered the ISO. Maybe the K10 ISO performance is less then stellar above 200.

Here's a shot for Mike W, of a facing wall, with a grill mounted on it.

Full tele 350mm - F16 - 1/200th - ISO 200 - Spot meter. No processing, just compressed right down from 3.9mb to under 1mb

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v175/slapper/K10D%20test/grill.jpg

All shot using ' catch-in-focus ' just like all the other shots here

I must admit - they look so much better ! Even with the compression

Best try that 500mm lens now i think

OK here we are. Same lens - Tamron 70-350..... Compressed down from about 2.5mb to under 1mb. No processing at all..

1st shot is same security lamp, but @ F11 - ISO 200 - 1/250th - 350mm ( full tele ) Spot Meter

Next shot is the bird bath in my garden. F16 - ISO 200 - 1/200th - 250mm - Spot Meter

OK - here's the original image, but i had to compress this to under half size, because Photobucket allows only a Max of 1mb. This was about 2.5mb to start with.

I'll take some shots now, using F11 @ 350mm and F16 @ 250mm
