The notification for your post in this thread was pretty damn quick in comparison. Only 45 mins. ( notified 8.30pm ) Not bad

I've just had a notification of a thread i subscribed to, so that when a reply is posted, i'm notified. Pretty standard forum procedure, except this one is 22 days late.

Is there any reason why this might happen ? Is the notification system here just a smidge slow ?

I have the 50/1.7 and love mine. I paid £20 + ( cant remember exactly ) but its silly money for a brilliant lens. These are some of the first shots with the lens, and used my family as guinea pigs

EDIT: Single-shot HDR is usually pretty appalling... the whole point about HDR is to re-introduce detail which was clipped out at either end during capture.
I was just wondering about that myself. If one were to take just a single shot of a scene where a bracketed shot was needed ( bright sky / dark foreground for instance ), which end of the spectrum would you shoot for ?

If you expose for the bright sky, you'll be trying to bring up detail from a dark foreground, which i find is never the best option. So, if exposing for the dark foreground instead, you'd bring down the over exposed sky, which should be the better option for addressing 3 exposures in RAW from a single shot.

Still, i think the one shot option is riskier.

Yep, you would have seen mine there mac, and I recognise your name too, and you probably know that i started with the SW 600 80ED, but sold it on to try some others. Im happy with this Orion, as the build quality seems better than the SW. It also has a WO dual focuser ( retro fitted ) which is real nice.

What i'd really like though is the WO Zenithstar 2 105ED

Thanks Froggy - I struck lucky with the lovely water colour. The lake was already reflecting a lot of yellowy-green due to the shrubbery / trees / leaves etc. Then the Sun just turned it golden. Its weird but there was only that small spot on the lake where that colour was - the Grebe just happened to be there in that area

Actually, i used to have a Manfrotto 393 and it makes no difference. The Pan / Tilt head i have is excellent - its the lens itself that makes BIF awkward, believe me
