The K100 D was my starter and still have it however with the new menu systems in the Kr and newer cameras probably the Kr would be my choice if she wants to stay with Pentax.

Does any one still use the old lense for portraits ?. Also can some one recommend one of these lens for portraits there seems to be varying thoughts of the best focal lenght for this use so any feed back is more than welcome. I have a 50mm 1.7 which I love but not sure if there may be better options.

Thanks for the feed back. I feel the K30 is a better equiped camera compared to the KR or the KX and would offer her more for the money althouth she will have to pay more for that I know.

I have been looking for a nice starter camera for my nephews daughter there have been some good buys recently on the KR model. However is the K30 very much of an upgrade on the Kr for the money. I dont want her to spend to much money as she may in time prefer another brand.

Just about all my cameras are showing signs of dust on the sensor. I have cleaned them before using the wet system from the site here. However the system is quite costly and I wonder how members managed to keep the equipment clean and if there are any new products worthy of a mention.
