I also have tried the 'Remote Assistant' software withe the istDS with limited success. For instance one is supposed to be able to change some of the camera settings via the software and USB cable but some setting do not seem to work. For instance I have tried to set the picture quality to best form the software but for some reason it always seem to take the shot in 'raw' mode. Also in single shot mode the software is supposed to display the picture just shot in the 'Remote Assistant' window, but it does not, although it allows one to name and save the picture to disk. Have you downloaded the PDF operation manual from the Pentax site.?
Maybe the problem of operation may be due to the difference in the firmware between the istD

Thanks 'MattMatic' for those settings. I will give it a whirl tonight and let you know the results.

Thank you 'Mattmatic' and 'George' for replies. I was aware that the DS could not operate in true wireless mode with the AF360FGZ as a slave. What I was trying out was using the AF360FGZ as a 'dumb' slave triggered by the internal flash of the DS. In this case does the AF360FGZ fire at full power or is there any intelligence to shut off the flash when the exposure is correct ? I would be grateful 'Mattmatic' if you could let me have the the correct settings as I know you have done quite a lot of experimenting with this camera and flashgun combination.

I am sorry if this has been asked before and answered, but I have been doing some tests with this setup and am still a bit confused as to the correct settings. Can anyone tell what should be the correct settings on both the camera and flash gun for using the AF360FGZ as a slave to the popup flash. I have tried using A mode on the flash with Slave = 2 but I found that with the flash power switch fully ON (ie to the right) the slave did not fire, but with the power switch at the wireless position (ie middle) the slave did fire. Also should the 'MCS' switch be at 'S' position. I am afraid that I find both the camera manual and flashgun manual very confusing.

I am contemplating one or other of these two lenses which are now both available in the UK and which I intend to use on my istDS. Both are specifically designed for use on digital cameras with APS-C sensors. Has anyone any useful comments on the quality of these lenses or Tamron & Sigma lenses in general which might help me to choose the best one.

Thanks guys. You are quite right, it pays to read the Manual thoroughly - ie Page 31 states that 128MB memory card can hold 11 Raw images, therefore 128/11 = 11.6MB per image. I thought I had read it somewhere that each image was about 18MB.

Can anyone who shoots Raw with either istD or istDS tell me what sort of file sizes they get shown after saving the Raw images to Windows XP. I am getting between 9500 KB and 11,800 KB file sizes recorded where I would have expected about 18,000KB ( 6 Megapixels x 3 bytes/pixel = 18,000).
Is something wrong with my thinking ?

Can anyone inform me of any software which will allow me to view or extract the Exif info from istDS Raw Images. ? I have Photoshop CS and PSP8 installed but neither seems to have any means of viewing the Exif info that I can see.
