The *ist-Ds cannot operate the AF360 in true wireless mode from the popup flash
The AF360 can, however, work in "regular" dumb slave mode - and this is what you've probably got set.
I'll look out the exact settings for you...

Wireless flash using the rtf doesn't work on the DS. Either buy a second 360, or a D.

Thank you 'Mattmatic' and 'George' for replies. I was aware that the DS could not operate in true wireless mode with the AF360FGZ as a slave. What I was trying out was using the AF360FGZ as a 'dumb' slave triggered by the internal flash of the DS. In this case does the AF360FGZ fire at full power or is there any intelligence to shut off the flash when the exposure is correct ? I would be grateful 'Mattmatic' if you could let me have the the correct settings as I know you have done quite a lot of experimenting with this camera and flashgun combination.

Ok, here's the settings, as far as I can remember (haven't the chance to try it out).
* Page 49 of the AF360 manual. Set to "SLAVE2" (dumb mode)
* For use, switch the power to the mid point, and the slave mode to "S"
* Put the AF360 in "A" mode (using the mode button)
Now, the AF360 should trigger twice, once for each flash of the popup on the *ist-Ds. In theory all should work fine (actually I used this with a Canon S30 for quite some time).
The only thing to watch out for is the flash distance of the AF360. If the preflash uses all the juice of the AF360 you'll get nothing for the main flash of the popup and the picture will be massively underexposed. Just so you know

Thanks 'MattMatic' for those settings. I will give it a whirl tonight and let you know the results.
