I searched the Forum but couldn't find the answer - at least not a complete one. I found a 16-50/2.8 Pentax lens for a very good price - but it has an issu with the SDM motor from time to time (known issue, the lens is 4 years old). So my question is: is there any chance to turn off the SDM on the K7 or K5 and use it only with the slot driven motor? Aparently there are some hacks but I do not really want to experiment with this. Thanks, Jiri

Interesting. I just received a roll of color slides today. Can't wait to see them in a slideshow. I'd even do more film photography but as my friends are awaiting the photos two seconds after they've been taken, I can't resist the DSLR. And of course there is much more features on DSLR than on a film camera, including image processing etc. Which consumes quite some time - in contrast to shooting slides and only developping them.

One in Switzerland. 5 days left but I doubt somebody will buy it, it is already second listing. I'm now looking-not looking for either sigma 100-300/f4 but rather Pentax 60-250/f4 although the latter one is shorter - but substantially lighter.

Thanks for your advices. I'll try to run such measurement on a tripod - the choice of lenses is rather limited so it should not take so much time. I think (hope) it is not a problem of the camera because it was similar with the k10d. I'll just have to live with it. Btw Green mode tends to underexpose too. And I also located a LV button on the K7, going to have a look what is it good for - the LV values were already located by PhotoMe.

OK I'll try with the DA40 2.8 lens. I shoot RAW only. Pattern mettering would give (I suppose) even worse results - it is usually lanscape photos with bright sky.
What is the LV values of metering?

I've recently bought a second hand K7 with only 2400 shots, date of original purchase 9/2009. After a few hundreds of shots, I realized that I have to set almost permanently the AE correction to +1EV or even more. If not, I have to correct the exposure in Silkypix. I am using mostly Av with center-weighted metering and 28-70/2.8 Tokina. I've had similar issue with K10d however I think the correction was usually lower.

A remark: in dark conditions on the other hand, the K7 tends to overexpose and the AE correction must be set either to 0 or to negative values. I just wanted to know whether I should go to see a Pentax service or not.

But I'll try one more thing: shoot in Av with correction and than switch to Auto (Green mode or something) to see the automatic values.

Thanks for your comments

Just a little comment: after 8 years of using MZ-5 or MZ-5n first on colour prints and then on slides, I got very rarely a bad exposure - even in tricky light situation. I especially liked the MZ-5n for its better positioning of control buttons. While with the K10d and K7 I almost constantly have AE correction set to 1 EV. I wonder if it is normal or not but I'll check the DSLR forum. BTW I've recently purchased a few rolls of slides again.

Have a look at eBay but been looking for the same lens for time and only about four to six per year showed in Pentax mount. What about 100-300 f4 sigma? much heavier but much better. Occurence approximately the same or even worse.

Well I also found that my K10d tends to underexpose and usually +0.7 or +1 EV is necessary to have the image bright enough, i.e. exposure to the right as some call it. I find it natural and I don't need to call it a special name btw.
I can't have my K10d set to +0.7 EV by default because there are about 20 % images that this correction is way too high.
In the times of MZ-5n I didn't have such problems and most of the slides (95 %) were OK for center weight metering.
