Actually, I am rather interested in it.
Could be a great backup to the mighty K-5. Same sensor, same WR, dual dials (it would appear) same menus, but smaller. Would look great with the tiny Limiteds I have. Plus the AA battery option too (ala K-r)
If all is true, there may be a well used but well kept K20D and excellent *istDS on the market as a result (my K10D I am keeping.......)

Now, I am wondering if it has the very useful TAv mode too....

Second on the Hahnel batteries.
I have one for the K10D/K20D and one for the K-5.
I have found that they work just as well as OEM ones.

As for batteries from E-bay, I am always wary, as they could be problematic.
So I try and go for known brands from reputable sources. So either OEM or brands such as Hahnel, Uniross etc.
On what basis?
I have read and heard a lot of issues with batteries purchased on e-bay, which are in fact duds, or have caused damage to the camera in question.
Sure, it might be very rare, but it is something that makes you think. Hence why I always purchase something like a battery from a reliable source.

Doubt it will be an EVF, as in-spite of the dubious angle of the front of the mirror box, it is still big enough for a Pentamirror or Pentprism.

The Looks are clearly not photoshopped, so it does look like the new mid-range model to replace the K-r.
One ergonomic I do like it the angled shutter button. That looks like it will be even more comfortable to use than my K-5.

With this model about to come out, I take it that the K-5 replacement (K-3?) will not be too far behind with a Pentax tweaked 24MP sensor?

Just watching The One Show, and the item with Phil Tufnell, he had a Pentax K-5 (with 18-55 WR on the front) around his neck.

If it was a prop, I would expect the usual CaNikon in shot. But because it is a Pentax, I very much doubt it.

Thumbs up to Phil.

Alan is right.
A lens focal length is the focal length. This does not change.
If you look at compacts they will state 5-15mm as the lens, even if you actually see a more narrow angle of view for the image.

Take for example the 50mm. A lens which was very common in 135 Film days.

On 135 film (or more commonly known as 35mm) you get the following
Full Frame digital (35mm on film) - 39.6 degrees
APS-C - 26.6 degrees (equiv on FF would be a 76.3mm lens)
"Pro compact - 1/1.7" " 8.7 degrees (equiv on FF would be a 236.8mm Lens)
cheap point and shoot (1/2.5") 6.6 Degrees (eqv on FF would be 312.5mm)
Medium format - 53.8 degrees. (eqv on FF would be 35.5mm)
Remember, it is STILL a 50mm Lens and will act as such.

The confusion is that the brands marketing confuse buyers with their "35mm equiv" or at worst with Ricoh, stating the equiv lens range in all their promotions, when in fact this is wrong, the lens is not a 50mm at all. But that is what the market want, as it easier for people to understand the 35mm version, rather than the angle of view.

So, to sum up, if on a lens, it states the focal length, it will be the focal length, it is up to you to work out the angle of view of said lens.

Hope this helps.

I have had a look on the other forum database.
The 35-70 is a push-pull type, but the IQ looks good.
However there is the F 35-70 model, which has AF too. But it is a rare as hens teeth. So you might get a good price for that too.

Well the 15mm F3.5 is a rare and well sort-after lens. Built in filters and pretty sharp.
In fact a couple of years back, the classic camera place in Manchester had one in, but the previous owner had converted it to fit a Leica!
Shocking! but if you think about it, an honour. As it is considered in Leica tones...
The Kiron is an interesting one. I have heard that it is a rather nice macro.
The A* 300mm, is exactly that, a mighty A*
The A 28-135 is an interesting one, especially being constant F4, as is the 35-105 F3.5. Both could fetch some good money.

Great looking camera. I am tempted, mainly for shock resistent and waterproofing. Not that I would use it much.

However what colour?

Stormtrooper White
Darth Vader Black
or
Iron Man Red.

Personally, I think the Iron Man red looks the business.
