They also have £99.01 off the Pentax Fit Sigma 70mm F2.8 EX DG Macro. Now coming in at £249.99.

Go to John Lewis for the Pentax F2.8 100mm Macro, you will be ask for £549.99 an eye watering £210.99 more than SRS.

Great reviews - but very difficult to find in Pentax Fit

Thanks: Brian

If you want to use the lens for both macro and portrait, it has to be the Sigma 105mm DG EX Macro. It's great for macro images, but utterly superb for portraits, it has a beautiful natural colour rendering and lovely soft bokeh. Forget the Pentax for portraits, it doesn't work well in this mode.

Thanks all - very helpful - I will digest. I had particularly not appreciated the choice of focal length in relation to shooting say flowers opposed to moving subjects. I will give the Tamron SP 90mm a view.

Hello to all
I am on a tight budget and are looking to purchase a new prime lens suitable for macro and/or portrait photography. This will be the first lens I have owned with macro capabilities. The lens will be used on my K7.

I have been looking at and considering:-
1. Pentax D-FA 100mm F2.8 WR Macro . Currently £339.00 at SRS.
2. Sigma 70mm F2.8 EX DG Macro. Currently £249.99 at SRS

I am leaning towards the Sigma, it is around 90 quid cheaper, has been rated highly in reviews and, has apparently good Brokeh capabilities. The Pentax on the other hand has also been rated quite highly and has the advantage of being WR.

Grateful for any advice. Seasonal Greetings To All

Low light Capabilities - High ISO Setting.
Of the last 20 weekly/ monthly competition winners, where ISO data was recorded pans out as follows:-

ISO 800 = 2
ISO 640 = 1
ISO 200 = 6
ISO 160 = 3
ISO 100 = 8

I also looked across different categories in the general gallery, including pictures contributed by members who have contributed to this topic. I found it very difficult to find many photographs shot above ISO 800.

Only a learner who will not rush to upgrade his K7.

Regards to all

Brian

You cannot access all the menu options in green mode. To reset to the factory option settings put the camera in say program then scroll across to No.3 after the spanner sign then scroll down to 'Reset'.
It also may be worth a try at a firmware update, to check your firmware turn the camera on whilst holding down the menu button the latest version for the k7 is ver 1.12. There is some excellent info on how to update firmware online & on You Tube.

Hello All
I am a Londoner now living and working in Scotland who has only just returned to photography after a break of many years. My last serious cameras were a Canon A1 and Pentax ME Super. Working within my budget I am now the very happy ownwer of a very nice secondhand F7 to which I have added kit lenes 18-55WR + 50-200WR.
Being new to digital ideally I would join what appears to be an excellent local Camera Club but unfortunatly my working starts and finish would make it difficult to attend and commit.
Hopefuly I will participate and contribute to the Pentax User and learn more than a little on the way.
