A picture taken from the Long Mynd looking towards Caer Caradoc with The Wrekin in the distance. The wind was gusting to 50mph and I forgot my monopod my tripod was useless........worse then hand held, and that was not good either. My mate stood up wind and I leant against him. What stuck me was the hazy quality of the light. Anyway let me have folks.

Good light helps with macro, the more the merrier. Then you can get the shutter speed up and stop down the lens to maximise the depth of field which still won't be much! I try to use a tripod or monopod 'cos you subject moves (even on a still day at this critical distance for focus the subject will move slightly) and if the camera is not steady you have doubled your problem! To be honest I try to cheat by getting the subject indoors and setting up the shot in the stillest environment I can. Clarky seems to have got the knack of outdoor macro pretty damn good so have a look at his stuff.

This dust problem is something I realise is much more serious in Digital than in Film cameras. A few puffs around inside when you changed film was usually enough. But then again I couldn't take 300+ pictures without it costing me an arm and a leg! Which is why I am trying to find out about memory cards 'cos that's one of the many things I know little or nothing about.

You mention a filter in front of the sensor. What is this made from? If it is glass why is sensor cleaning viewed with trepidation by some people? I have thought about what to do if mine needs cleaning and the different methods mentioned by people has concerned me to the degree that I don't really fancy the job.

Has anyone had any long term problems with Sandisc memory cards as I have hears rumours that they don't last long before giving problems.
Shouldn't memory cards last indefinatley?

If it's anything like an MX it's fairly easy to do as I used to change/clean mine regularly. Be careful also not to touch the underside of the pentaprism, 'cos THAT will cost you if you damage it. Remember that even if you damage the focusing screen that will be relativeley cheap to replace.
If you are really nervous about doing it don't bother 'cos after all it won't affect your pictures, and you can learn to accept the marks in your viewfinder.

Wow

Not many insects around in the UK at the moment, but you've inspired me for next spring.

Come to think of it, I think there might be a spider lurking somewhere in the bathroom??????????
