Perhaps you could have used 'layers' to blur just the top edges of the slices leaving the rest sharp?

Nice composition and the star burst adds balance.

Every now and then an image pops out from the thumbnails. This works so well. The consistent background isolates the subject to make it the focal point and it pops!
A good image that differs from the norm and instils attention, deservedly.
