Depends which zoom and how old you mean. There are some turkeys out there and some gems. Try looking at the pentaxforums lens reviews database. Take the overall rating with a pinch of salt (as they are a mean and one person voting 1 can skew the results, they should use the median ideally) but it is worth casting your eye down what people have said.

The later models from I guess eighties onwards, been lookin at the Sears lens over on pentax forums, seems people on there are gettin great results form them . Prices seem to good to be true ,I mean £20 and less they're surely worth a punt ?

An amazing part of the world and great images. I like #3... which gives a sense of the open space.

Kinbrace, eh . Do you recognise this??? Taken from by the cemetery. Spent a happy couple of hours in the vicinity in June, snapping away. Would love to see some more of yours

A family friend called Stewart Henderson owns and runs this croft call Killcroft ,he's farm manager on Achentoul estate ,used to play football just infront of the graveyard when my brothers and i were kids ,and i fished the river in the background, god that brings back so many fond memories and i thank you for showing me this . Really liking your shot. Unfortunately when i lived there i didn't have any interest in photography , now that i have i'm going to be making the long trek up the road(Kinbrace is about 110 mls from where i live now ) i even have a picture in my head of the shots i'm going to take so watch this space .

I have found, Cameratiks on Morningside Road, Edinburgh to be good.

I try to avoid it, because I always spend money there.

They usually have a good selection of the lenses you mention, nearly splashed out on a 100mm Macro recently, they had the M and A versions. I have the Sigma 105, but I was still tempted.

The old web-site didn't give away much, there is a new one coming, but they were always good on the phone.

I was in about 3 weeks ago, they had about 20 Pentax brand lenses and about the same amount of "Pentax Fit" lenses.

Hope that helps.

p.s. does The Red Lion still serve good beer ?
Thanks for that , afraid to say the Lion is no more ,infact it's being demolished, sure did i nice cold pint though
