Cheers for the reply chirpy! Yep, indeed after the picture was taken the horizontals were still perfect in the viewfinder and the SR was off for both pictures. Being a student on a budget, discovering this problem has been a right shocker considering it's the single most expensive piece of equipment i've ever bought! Hopefully samsung will sort it on the warranty.

Just to add to this "debate". Fair enough, I have only just registered on this forum to post about my apparent viewfinder problem, but I shall continue to post here.
Having reasonably steady hands, and a steadier tripod, I can say without a shadow of a doubt that something is misalligned in my GX-10. I first noticed it on holiday taking pictures of the sea with a tripod; every shot with the horizon leaning down to the right. Just today laying on my bed I ran a couple of tests looking at the bottom of my wall. Several photos with the edge lined up completely flush with the edge of the viewfinder and also with the "overlayed" markings on screen all showed the lean. In every photo I take it's noticable, portrait or landscape.
It seems like a fairly widespread issue in both Pentax and the rebadged Samsungs.

My mistake, it must be a gear inside the lens that's gone. The body made a noise like it was focussing but the lens didnt move. Waiting for a replacement on both at the moment!

Good test karma, much prettier than mine! lol. An update on my side of things... I've sent mine back to the place I bought it, as it was JUST inside their 30 day returns policy. They will hopefully replace the body, and my 50-200mm kit lens which the AF motor died on completely
