Excuse my ignorance, where is Mountbatten?

No. 2 for me.
Apologies for that, I was under the impression my profile had Plymouth as my location? Maybe it's changed or I'm just getting old.

Thanks for the comments people.

Nice, could be Brent Geese.
Yes I think you are correct Mike, according to my old books they Winter here! 18 degrees and people swimming in the bay right near them too. Not what they were expecting surely, I was surprised how close we both walked by them without disturbing them into flight, approx 15 to 20 feet?
Thanks all for the replies and comments.
Here is a crop close up of the Geese;

A short walk today as time limited as ever, midday just after lunch. K1 mkII and the 55mm K series lens f1.8 with an old Cokin ND Grad filter attached. There are some Geese feeding amongst the pebbles and green seaweed, not sure what species they are.
CC's welcome. Quickly PP'd in RT.

Super result Loadof, encompassing the grand scale , wait until you get used to it and one will instinctively know when to employ these techniques. I will have ago myself when time allows

One can also use this technique on closer foreground compositions as well. So plenty of uses
Many thanks Flan.

Here's the shot again with five takes; (I'm on a roll! so to speak)

Panorama software can also be used in a two shot sequence with the 50mm and should stitch perfectly without too much movement or wind etc, One will end up with a 6x7 look.
Try it
Will do! 👍
😀
Here's one of 2 shots with SMC-A 50mm f2 at f11 100ISO handheld, no filters, used Autopano Giga, enjoy;

I was going to title this "What not to Pano shoot?"

I took this with a 50mm SMC-A F2 at f8 on a tripod in Portrait postion, but obviously the two yachts were moving in between the shots, due to the tide. Closer in you can see the mast doubled' up and some blur.
Six shots, PP'd in RT and then Autopano Giga. After playing around with control points I eventually realised I'm probably wasting my time with this one! Doh,
The first shot shows the problem, then just before posting I tried a different way, let Autopano search the whole directory, as I did 2 lots of six shots from a slightly different position, 6 feet away. Rendered the pano and whey hey a great improvement. It said 26 images for some wierd reason - probably counting the tiff and jpg files??
There is however still some wierd masts sticking out of the sea - wierd, but should easily be removed in PP.

Anyway here are the shots, nice scenic one but defo not perfect in many ways;

I meant to add Loadof ,to try this technique on a 50mm prime as they are almost distortion free.
Great info, thanks again Flan 👍

[quote:3496ace15f="Flan"]Nice result all the same Loadof,
From my brief researching sometime back, is that professionals as well as ammeters put the camera on a tripod in the portrait position absolutely level in both axis and then proceed to take maybe 6 shots or more with a third overlap in each frame.
The reason for the vertical position it allows more latitude in height for the stitching to align.
You can also do this handheld with maybe 3 frames for a wide angle feel without the curvature

Cheers for the info Flan.
