So, I couldn't follow your Reddit link so I went down the Google rabbit-hole instead.
Spent far too much time going off on tangents and flights of fancy as is usual on the internet but some of this is fascinating!
Did you know this off the top of your head? And if so, how/why?

Oh dear. You have opened a monster can of worms here. I didn't notice that mark first time round. The only (non) explanation I can give is that it might represent a French term, "quatre de chiffre" which is completely untranslatable and goes back to perhaps the 12thC. You will find it here and there in churches - for example the Collegiate church of St Mary in Youghall, Co.Cork, so it isn't confined by national boundaries. The greatest symbolist of all time (Renee Guenon) admits that its import remains unknown (Symbols of Sacred Science, Ch.67 pp.387 - 391) and Eugene Goblet d'Alviella (The Migration of Symbols (1894)) rapidly progresses from it to various three-armed Triscele figures (e.g. the three legged symbol of the Isle of Man or Sicily) and four armed Gammadions (swastikas). If you Google it, I hope you can read French!
or you could try this one? link
Thanks for this.
I will read the link later on, translated of course and probably with alcohol

It's always worthwhile visiting old churches, as this set shows. The last but one, of a misericord is a most satisfying shot.
In those times, monks were expected to stand for hours in their stalls. The projection was to rest their butts to ease the discomfort.
Thank you and thanks for the misericord explanation - all new to me!
Any idea why the number 4 is carved upside down? (Top right pew)
This was repeated on numbers 14 and 24

Nice series, the interior doors shot looks quite intimidating.
Thank you.
The doors are even taller than they are shown, there is another panel below but I chose to go wide rather than tall
