It's a shame actually as I would have paid the K-3 price for one with a K-5II sensor but as you say, it will never happen.

Interestingly I have noticed some AF shift on my 5II lately, I am going through my lenses for the airshow and noticing they are all out by a fair margin. I have had to give the camera +7 global adjustment to get them sharp.

My 2 year warranty must be up soon so I will get it away to JPS for a quick look around I think.
Funny I wonder why it's suddenly shifted like that? Get it to JP sharpish then Mike!
I too would start saving my pennies for such a beastie, maybe pentax/Ricoh can pull something off with the 20Mp sensor, who knows?
Not throwing in the Pentax towel because of one more pink camera, well not just yet anyway...

I don't think it even needs less advanced AF/metering tbh Jules, the AF tracking is still miles behind even 3 or 4 year old Canikons and I think Pentax always will be so I have basically given up whinging about that .

A K-3 with the K-5II sensor would do me just fine. I would like a tilt screen, built in wi-fi, GPS, better video etc etc but really, I can do without them quite happily.

Bournemouth air show starts today .....

Weather is totally crap here .....
Can't agree about the focusing Mike, it's just different but then I am a K3 fanboy!
I was thinking they would have to have some model differentiation which up until the K3 was kind of lacking?
K3 with the K5II sensor, likely can't happen now, I think the only 16Mp currently in production is the specialised one Sony do for Fuji...
Airshow
Would love to do one again, too far away and too expensive to get to for me these days, I had to make do with Mk127 Hawks yesterday batting thru Dunmail Raise and the Test Pilots schools Gripen!

Had it been a 20MP version (or even 16MP) version of the K-3 it would have interested me a lot more. I can just see the comments on DPR right now ... I don't even have to look.
You should it's fun!
but I get your point of view, which is similar to mine, I think?
I'd like to see a camera like a K3 "light" With a slightly less advanced AF/Metering system but based on the same tech, all wrapped up in a nice boring black, water resistant body, and an optional grip.
What we'll get: (No:idea

I think we'll see this sensor, and the light up dials in a future sucessor to the k5II... knowing pentax... same body..new knobs and dials with LED's and new sensor and BAM... KS-5
Makes a lot of sense does that...

Not just the entry level Michael, it took Nikon four years to create the Df from the D4 and D600 parts bin!

Well richandfleur, I think you are correct, this will go down a storm in Asia!
It is after all 90% of Ricoh/Pentax's business, also unfortunately for you given your geographic location, it will be pushed heavily in your part of the world too?
I don't see it as the one direction (See I am relevant I knew a band name!)that Ricoh are headed, rather as one camera designed to entice new users, some design/interface ideas will likely, inevitably run thru to higher end models in the future, as long as Ricoh make the right choices here, it'll be ok, I guess I'll just have to "Imagine change".

What I meant to say was I don't think I want that interface, I could never get on with Canon because of that rear wheel and I am supposing I wouldn't with this one but of course I have never tried it!
It may end up being the best thing ever?
