Hows this un of Lodore Landing on Derwentwater? Taken around the same time as the Sheep shot in the previous thread, I've never quite got to grips with this view but I took a stance further back than most do this particular day, to use the Jetty and the boat on the right. (I had to wait about twenty minutes for all the Photographers to clear away before I got my shot, and got some funny looks as they wondered what I was waiting for
Twas cooold!
I think it works pretty well?

SRS All the way!
Had problems with Currys myself, it should not have to be this difficult but having worked in retail once before. (Never again!) I know that no one wants returns, the amount of bodies/Hours that Large stores give over to managing the Customers expectaions post sale, is derisory to say the least! They'll wriggle like hell if it's a difficult/time consuming return but stick in there, the law is on your side here, don't give in. Your correct, your contract is with Currys, and they have sold you goods which are now not fit for purpose, which is against the law whether it be by accident or design...

Thanks!
It was windy rainy and friggin cold, I needed every ounce of the K5's In Body Stabilisation system to stop the Camera shaking!
All too Briefly there was some lovely light over the Fells but it saved the nasty stuff for when we were on the tops...As usuual!
Couple of Years ago I was in the same spot as the last two shots and you could see right over the Solway Firth as far as the Isle of Man! Alas not with a Pentax...
Not on this day.

I recently did the exact same thing.

16-45mm is a fine lens but the better build (semi WR), extra length and the SDM are worth the extra imo.

IQ is not massively better and the loss of the 1mm is a shame but I am very pleased with the lens which goes nicely with the 55-300mm when I want to go out with a light backpack.
+1
Pretty much all the Landscapes on my site that currently aren't taken with the Siggy 8-16 are taken with the 17-70, it's a very good Lens...

A post on another website alleges that the dealer margin in one Eurozone country on one Pentax lens, the 50mm f2.8 macro, is 69% with the DA 21mm coming in at a scarcely less tasty 61% - on a notional selling price before any dealer reductions. I've no idea whether similar margins apply to the UK. Even so, brush up those bargaining skills boys.
That's total nonsense. It must have been written by someone with less than half a brain and I find it hard to believe that yours is any bigger for repeating such tripe! . Most retailers margins nowadays on high price goods are around 10-20% and they have to give a cut out of that to the Credit Card companies.
I know a certain Large retailer in he UK, that when they sell a certain brand of Beginner DSLR, they make only £2.87 on the DSLR, Warranties/Filters/Accessories etc is where they make their profit.
I used to unfortunately work for Staples at one time and we used to get into trouble deep, as in interviewed by the Manager, when a Laptop left the shop without a warranty attached beause the margin on them was soo low!

Bugger that for a game of Soldiers! I'm never going back to retail!

I used to burn ammunition for a living, now that was fun

That post by jules applies only to the US

In the UK price fixing is banned and Pentax have increased
prices to the retail outlets.
Thats what I meant by a "little bit" Algi.
Youre right of course price fixing is banned!
I'm also pleased that the thread title takes the heat off SRS a bit, they do us a lot of good turns
I think Sony have been guilty of trying the Same trick but here of course they have to up the original buy in price in order to get the margin they want...
I think it's indicative of Ricoh/Pentax trying to even things out, though I'm not sure that they are too sure of the market at present either! A Global statement of intent would be nice but I doubt that would be forthcoming, I don't think the price rises here have been quite so Brutal as the US, that said I don't see anyone over here feeling too sorry for them either
