Ok, trying to persuade the other half (Proving difficult! )
but it's got me thinking, I'm still intrigued by the K5II/IIs conundrum and have noted you guys efforts in trying to achieve the same sharpness/look between the two cameras...
So then if sharpness is the only real denominator and the lack of anti aliasing filter can be replicated and as we all have such marvellous software available, can anyone make the K5II Images look better than the "S"???

Should that then not be possible?

Just asking

Boy have I opened a can of worms
Not just on here either, Mrs Jules got wind of what I'm proposing and is not a happy bunny!

Bwaaahhhaahhhh!!!

All I want is to be happy with what I've got Mike, I actually did fully intend to come back into Photography with a K5 but my mate who used to run Jessops in the Metro Centre, persuaded me I needed a D600, to be honest the difference between a good APSC and a Full Frame (Still hate that term)isn't that much either, It may be the II and not the "s" model I end up with but if there is any more actual detail in the Sensor I want it as you can't make detail out of nothing, maybe the best way is to buy and try...

Sorry John, I've just realised where I am and I've mentioned Nikon, Canon, Fuji and Sony!

He He
I heard a rumour that the new one was going to use a new Sony Sensor, wonder if it's the 20.1Mp one in the A58? I'd be quite pleased if they backed off a little from 24, I briefly tried a Sony A77, now I know Sony doesn't do Noise reduction well but frankly it was a gritty monster!
Not everyone would agree though...

Smeggy, I was looking into the D7100 to save me a lot of grief switching (Again, Yes I know Mike P!). Tried one out and when you realise in the flesh as opposed to just reading it online, that whatever card you use you really are only getting a six frame raw buffer it makes the K5 seem like a Nikon D4!

The Nikon focusing however is first rate but I'll take any improvement that Pentax can reliably offer, Nikon/Canon is better but also a lot more complex, I don't really want all the focus modes/sensor grouping/timing arrangements, just something simple that works and gives you a fair chance at making the shot...

Hasn't the MkII got a little better high ISO? only a little maybe but the next iteration should build on that, I get the feeling that your current pair of K5's are pretty safe for a little bit at least...

Sans seems to be the current trend, which is good since were getting soo high in resolution that it's not really needed anymore? If they only offer without then the relative price may come down? Camera manufacturers love to leave something out wheter it is required or not because it saves them money? I feel we may have to get used to doing without...

Without ranting on about which camera is better, can I just say that I have used all three models and for my use I would pick the K5lls if I could only choose one of them. Pentax will no doubt release another model to replace the K5ll and perhaps it too will be offered in two versions? Anyway at the end of the day at least we all have the choice in relation to price and our photographic needs. I think we all like the cameras we have, but for various reasons people will always want something better photographically resulting in a new body becoming the holly grail. If you asked people who all agreed that a photograph was excellent, I don't think anyone would care which make or model it was taken with.
Amen!

Went and had a look at the II yesterday, and instantly felll in love wit it. Also the Fuji XE-1, and size wise there is not much in it, so it's made the descision easy I think, I have no need of an XE-1! As soon as I can unload my Nikon gear, I'm back with a KIIs, Why? Because I can only really afford one at the moment, so even if it's only a little sharper (Not saying it is or it isn't!) then I may as well have that un first, it'll be for landscapes where Moire is seldom a problem and I spend most of my time trying to avoid mesh fences anyway...

Holding a K5 again just made me feel happy, and thats the most important thing of all...

Not sceptical at all Senn, just need to decide between the II and the IIs.
So everyone, Have you managed to find Moire??? From what I've read it's not much of an issue? Just want to garner opinions and the thoughts that went into their decisions... Although I'd like to end up with both I think.

Ok just read John's review and I have to say I'm salivating!
Anyone add any more, though I think it's a forgone conclusion as to what I'm going to get?
Just need to unload that Damn Nikon now...
