I like the look of it but for the life of me I can't seem to find any information on the buffer size in it, or in short how many Raws it'll shoot in a burst, anyone know?

My general walkabout kit is K5IIs + DA*16-50. Surprisingly compact for such quality!

Prior to the DA*16-50 I used the DA17-70 which is a very nice lens indeed! As with all lenses that 'telescope' out, do protect them well while in the bag, etc

For landscapes and really wide, the DA12-24 is fabulous. Coupled with LR4 (which has good profiles) it takes out what distortion & CA there was and produces a top-notch image.

My general kit packs neatly into a tiny Lowepro Nova 3 with: K5IIs+grip+DA*16-50, DA*50-135, DA12-24, and the FA50/1.4 tucked inside. Still has room to take either the AF360 flash or the DA55-300. For long days it's the Slingshot 202 which can fit the same gear in (though not as neatly!).

Incredibly discrete and pretty much all I ever need!!

Now that's what I'm talking about Matt, I'd love to see me do that with the D600/24-120 AFSG VR/28 F1.8 AFSG/50 F1.8 AFSG/Sigma 12-24 HSMII and the 70-300 AFSG VR

It's not always just the weight but the volume, which requires a bigger bag etc. and it just spirals...

I know your looking to "FF" (Hate the term!) but with lenses on the horizon like the new Sigma 18-35 F1.8, I'm no longer seeing the draw, my D600 doesn't do anything for me my K5 couldn't...
D800 may be different still but the grass is rarely greener, and I've tried most of the grass...
Must admit Jules that if FF wasn't in my mind I certainly wouldn't look elsewhere, I don't think there's much out there by anyone that has the allround abilities of the K5. Just read one of your earlier threads comparing the D800/600 and it's definitely food for thought, I'd certainly miss the build quality & ergonomics of the K5

Simon
They are very different but you get used to it, there are certain quirks on the D600 as opposed to the D800 but IMHO, it's just not worth another 6-800 quid for a heavier body with a darker viewfinder that shoots slower, however it's better built but not to K5 standard in my opinion, definitely good enough but not quite there...
K5, just works, looks at the shot, shrugs it's shoulders and just gets on with it, I like that. I also like the fact that as long as I owned one I always had a little smirk to myself when I took it out of the bag, the little camera that could...

Lightweight backpacking option is easy, the DA21mm
That's my view too. And when I look back through the favourite shots I've taken, many of them were with this combo.

But then I'm a big fan of the DA Ltds; compact, lightweight, well engineered and a joy to use. I take out the 15-21-40-70 combo and it all fits into a ThinkTank 20 holster. I did acquire a 12-24 for a while. Absolutely great lens, but I could not justify owning it and the 15+21 Ltds... and to my subjective eye the images did not quite have the 'pop' of the Ltds. And as David implies, if you want full coverage (so also need to take out something to cover to standard to short telephoto range) you'll need at least one more lens a fair bit bulkier than the Ltds. But for filter work the 12-24 is much easier.

But Jules, you know all this . After all, I got addicted to the Ltds after seeing posts in 2010 by a certain... Jules
Ha Ha I do miss those, they really taught/re taught me a thing or two about seeing/visualising a shot, rather than just glimmly zooming from the one spot as I used to
They are lovely but I've kind of set my heart on the Sigma 8-16/50-500 and just maybe the new 18-35, it's really the Pentax angle of things 12-24 could replace the siggy 8-16, I just don't like the 16-50 SDM but can't really put my finger on why? If they put the 17-70 SDM in a weather sealed 16-50 type body for the handling I'd bite! The other favourite is the 50-135 SDM, so for everyday/lightweight I'd just take the 17-70+50-135, add the wide if required. For an Airshow/ critters etc. The 50-500 goes in place of the 50-135...
Of course without approval of the other half it's all just pie in the sky

Cheers Simon, It's exactly the kind of info I'm after, I admire your work! You've just got on with it whereas I've managed a "nervy b" and a million kit changes but the K5 keeps drawing me back, as an aside and I hope you don't mind. I know your looking to "FF" (Hate the term!) but with lenses on the horizon like the new Sigma 18-35 F1.8, I'm no longer seeing the draw, my D600 doesn't do anything for me my K5 couldn't...

Looks very good David

Nice shots too, never been there despite sort of being a "local" lad...
