A modern vintage lens beautifully crafted from metal and glass. Stunning to look at a delight to hold. All the advantages of a new lens with the characteristics of an old classic. £213.00 delivered in a quality presentation box with a mini cleaning kit including, including I kid you not, a pair of white cotton gloves to handle it with. Certainly not what you would call expensive for a new lens but built to last and very capable. The perfect addition to the collection of any discerning lensoholic and most definitely a keeper. Whilst this type of lens may not be for everyone, for those who are interested, I have no hesitation in recommending it 110%. Just my opinion!

Have a very happy and Holy Christmas everyone with good health, wealth and good fortune in the year ahead,

D.
Don't forget to post some shots of and with the new lens!

In this case both versions work very well but I think the B&W has the edge.

Personally, Flickr remains the best place to share photography. It hasn't been taken over by videos (though Second Life garbage is all too common and I'm sure AI will infiltrate more and more). It's not free any more, unless you want to upload fewer than 1000 images, but it's a good community, a great website (not ugly at all) and in one group or another you can share any image you care to. I do feel that it's expensive though, but it's the only photography-related subscription I have.

I'd be surprised if the K-3 III has really been discontinued as it hasn't been out that long and there's nothing to take it's place. I have read in the past that when Japanese retailers are out of stock of an item they mark it as something which can be easily translated to "discontinued" when really it's just out of stock. Maybe that's the case here.

I don't think I've read anything about anyone being unhappy with their K-3 III but it's an expensive camera so maybe the volume isn't there any more.

I imagine that there are quite a few people who thought they'd love a monochrome camera but once they tried one out they maybe missed the possibility of shooting in colour and decided that it was too much money to spend on a niche within their photography.

I have seen more 17s on the used market recently, that doesn't surprise me at all.

My guess would be that for best results you need to:

1. Make sure they are evenly lit over the whole surface
2. Use a tripod and two-second timer to make sure there's no camera movement
3. Stop the lens down to f/8 or a little more for best sharpness (that's not the sharpest lens, especially at 55mm)
4. Make sure that the exposure is correct - I would shoot in manual mode
5. If the images come out dull then it's likely that you need to play with the jpeg profile to better reflect the colour and contrast of the paintings

I received an e-mail from Analogue Wonderland who have a survey on the future of the Pentax film project, the results of which will be passed directly to Pentax to steer their future development. I would recommend anyone with an interest fill it in.

Just add an LED light panel and a macro lens. They also sell this kit with their own light which fits together with the rest of it but I can't see it on Amazon UK.

Just avoid flatbed scanners like the Epson V series as they're terrible for scanning negatives, producing very soft results in my experience.

You need to use the mechanical shutter for any type of lighting which is not constant.
