There's also Asahi Photo, Brent Street, NW4 4DJ, who specialise in older Pentax camera repairs. Not sure what they're like with lenses but worth asking them.

I had a quote from Asahi for around £100 to fix the plastic gear on a mint MZ series. Pondering. I know I'll not get my money back post repair if I sell it, but I've had the camera from new plus there's the principle of keeping things going if possible. My lenses are silver unfortunately.

Seems some comments have surfaced from the tog (Tanaka?) who does pre-launch work for Pentax, including videos, and whilst there's nothing specific for obvious reasons it seems there could be a simple nonavailability of critical component/components which has forced Ricohs hand. He also infers there's a new camera coming.

Fabulous. When I look through my windows at night all I see are street lights. Living in London I guess I'd have to go some distance to lose light pollution, and even then I wouldn't have a clue as to how I could capture such images or what kit I'd need.

Seems to be the subject of discussion on other forums, but also confusion, as it depends which Ricoh site you look at. One version of this story from Poland states it's only the silver model that's discontinued.

Another round of 'Pentax is doomed' I suppose.

I'm no expert, but I'd have thought you'd want consistency when it came to lighting, which to me suggests artificial light?
