In practice they are very useable.

Conversly, we don't feel the need to correct the converging horizontals of, say, a railway line receding into the distance.
In the absence of a shift lens, Photoshop does a great job using the Transform>Skew command.

Quoted focal lengths are an approximation, but the field of view for a particular length ought to be the same for all lenses. A 15mm on the *istDS for example works out at around 22.5mm equivalent and should have the appropriate field of view.

All you need to do is copy the files into an appropriate folder on your PC and the originals will still be available, untouched, on the SD card.

If it is, maybe the link isn't accurate, or maybe it's slightly faster than marked.
If it's a K mount lens it uses a different metering pattern by default, so that might account for the discrepancy.

Prime or zoom? Well, once I would have said prime without hesitation, but I am starting to become very impressed by the latest (especially digital) zooms.
If you don't need the fast aperture of a prime, I suspect a modern zoom will do very well indeed.

Testing lenses properly is a very complex process indeed, but an impression can be gained at least.
For me, the result is that I will be happy to use the 750Z for use when it's not appropriate to carry the DSLR kit, but the latter is far more versatile and has, as you say, other qualities that are as important as resolution.
I'm pretty happy with the way my digital Pentaxes are operating!

It is possible to use K and M lenses, and even to get a meter reading, but I do find the process more fiddly and for me I don't think it's worth the hassle.
Others will and have disagreed, so do consider their comments as well, which you will find on other threads in this forum.
