Are you able to mess about with curves on Elements 7.0? From what I remember using Elements a few years back this was the most effective way of rescuing burnt out skies. I have a trial of this at the moment.

Can I just ask whether the flash/es are suitable for portrait type photography i.e. they are better than the pop up flash, or are they a little underpowered for this sort of useage?

Got one of these off eBay for £53 - in mint condition so am very pleased. Managed to work out the auto aperture bit, but what I was wondering was whether the lens / camera automatically knows when the centre of the picture is in focus?

I am half pressing the autofocus and then adjusting the focussing ring, it seems to beep and red box plus a green hexagon flash up - I assume this means it is in focus. If I move the focus ring, the hexagon disappears, meaning it is no longer in focus. I have the camera body (K20d) set to auto focus.

I have a K20d and Da*16-50. I tried a bit of manual focussing and was wondering whether the camera detects when the subject is in focus on all manual lenses. It seems to beep and thered focus box highlights when you get the centre of the frame in focus. Would this also happen on a fully manual lens as well, or is it just because my lens has autofocus on it?

Bit confusing.

Installed the software 20 mins before posting my last message and did a bit of manipulation with the files so I could view on a computer monitor instead of the LCD. The images looked great, and no extra sharpness was required (to my eyes anyway). The Silkypix software that comes with the camera feels a bit basic, so wondered what other options there are such as lightroom, aperture etc.

Took quite a few at a 1 year old's birthday bash. Very happy with natural colours and quality of the photos.

Don't think much of the free Pentax software, do most of you use Lightroom for RAW conversion and manipulation. Is Lightroom 1.3 OK, as I can get this a bit cheaper than version 2.0.

Thanks guys, just so busy with work at the mo, only had chance to fire off a few shots and review on the camera's LCD. Need to put a few hours aside to get the software loaded up on my laptop and have a real play with the RAW images.
