Pentax lenses and flashes for sale

I finally got round to putting some of my surplus kit on ebay.

Can I just ask whether the flash/es are suitable for portrait type photography i.e. they are better than the pop up flash, or are they a little underpowered for this sort of useage?

The AF160 flashes have a GN of only 16 and are a bit underpowered for studio work. They would make a good secondary light for illuminating backgrounds.

The most useful use I've seen them put to is Clarky's dual light macro rig.

They'd also make a good replacement for a faulty onboard flash, much cheaper than a repair job.

The eyes don't have it any more Martin.

Ordinarily I'd never have sold my SMCP-A 135mm but I bought the FA version from a forum member and I don't need both. The A135 is a cracking lens, one of the best.

Truth is, I just have far too many lenses that I don't use and its time somebody else enjoyed them.

Pleased with the result of the 135mm auction, Peter? Of the (now) five sales I have in my database, it is the highest priced one. I would love to have one of those, but a bit too much for me at the moment.

I'm very pleased with the final price Kris. I was watching a SMCP-A 100mm (non-macro) earlier that went for £199.00.

My 135mm will be living in Denmark in the near future.

In good condition, the A series lenses are fetching good money at the moment, despite the credit crunch.

I might even offer up my SMCP-A 24mm . . . then again, maybe not.

The only one of those I have seen for sale went for £141. The A series lenses do fetch much more than the M series, possibly because of the metering issue with digital bodies as well as ease of use, I guess. If the metering worked properly I'd be happy to use the M lenses more, as it is I mainly use them on my various film cameras.

I was amazed that Hefty's M-series 200mm f/4 went for £80 -- much more than usual.

I'm saying nothing except that the FA 135mm I replaced it with . . . has now cost me £2.

That said, the other items in my recent auctions went for a lot less than I paid for them.

Kris, a SMCP-A 24mm 1:2.8 lens sold today on ebay for £74, half the price of the one you have in your db.

Before Peter's sale I only had four of these lenses in my database, the cheapest went for £100, the most expensive for £120 so although Peter's did well, it wasn't that over the top. As much as I would like an A* version, I have never seen one on ebay. The M-series 3.5 is very common (I have 23 sales in my database and could have had more but got bored) and sells on average for £30. The earlier lenses have a good reputation (I have an SMC Takumar 135mm) but are less convenient to use on the K10.
