Just to check but do you know you can apply the same changes to multiple pictures in Darktable?
I do, I did this for the lens corrections. Just starting out with it really.

To be fair to the K3ii I am lucky enough to be able to own the RAW files do need very limited work to get something acceptable. I m just quickly checking and converting to JPEG in Darktable and when I have a more permanent computing solution sorted I can always revisit them.

Probably going Linux anyway long term so this day would have come eventually anyway as Lightroom is not in my future plans.

Well I'm of the generation who expect not to get any kind of pension in the end at all anyway still maybe 35 to 40 years wait for me! But that's another issue....

A friends company has sent everyone off to work from home from today. We are still waiting to hear what the plan is. Some people have been getting laptops and telephony equipment supplied but no idea yet if it is only a few or everyone.

I work in the middle of Budapest but refuse to panic and just carrying on with basic precautions and washing my hands. But due to a relentless morasse of large bills over the last 6 months I basically just go from the office to the house and that is it.....

I wouldn't be able to tell easily anyway as we are entering the hayfever season and the smog in this city plays funtimes with me. Back home at the weekends in the countryside I am totally fine!

May I suggest your first step should be to create a backup regime so you wont be stuck again.
I did. I have all the RAW files. Just the processing.................. Life has got a bit on top of me the last year or so and some things fell by the wayside rather.

That due to computer failure I am just converting all the RAW files from the last couple of years into JPEGS and barely touching them processing wise?

I spent a long time in Lightroom on the originals. Now I am in Darktable in Linux and just am struggling to feel any desire to repeat all that time and effort.

Just realised 450 images in I forgot to apply lens corrections....... But not going back and reexporting................................

Not going well this year....

Getting the other side of 10 years for them though!! My main computer is needing an appraisal as it hit the floor to see if it is worth repairing (2012 Macbook Pro). I am giving Linux a long term test at the moment before committing any which way. Can't go back to Windows easily due to HDD formatting fun.

The USB powered 1TB and above portable hard drives work nicely for me,

Still an issue after so many years....... I have multiple external hard drives but I haven't been using the cameras very much over the last couple of years have got out of the habit of religiously backing up.

Will have to think about it at some point as my computers are getting old and there isn't much money to do a lot about that so failure rate is expected to increase quite a bit then! I am philosophical about it really.

I sold my K5...... ONly kept the K200 for sentimental reasons. I think I know the issue. WIndows 10 won`t save the file without appending .txt and I can`t find a way to stop it doing it.....
Can't you just rename it afterwards?
I have it named as MODSET.445. DOne everything as described on the other forum but just won`t work and I am running out of patience frankly with the whole thing.
You need to allow the file explorer to show extensions. If it's a text file that means it has the .txt file extension, and if you've hidden the extensions you won't be able to alter the whole name.

At the moment it seems that the file is being called 'MODSET.445.txt'[/quote]I apologise to everyone! I am a moron!!!!!!

It LIVES! IT LIVES!

I`m used to using Macs and am not very familiar with WIndows 10, a little searching and found the right options. So the lens is now running on screw drive. A little noisy but never mind....

Thank you for you forbearance.

I will need to test it out properly in daylight tomorrow but seems a little slower and hunty than I remember from the SDM but that may simply be because I can hear it now.

The K-5 could work too - just keep trying to find a solution, they're definitely out there.

I`m getting really frustrated with this as it should have been repaired with the new parts that are apparently meant to be more reliable by the local Pentax Service Centre. It is an expensive lens that is a currently a paperweight and it looks like one way or another I`ll have to spend quite a bit of money to get a functioning lens back.

Or just put in a box and forget about it as the repair frankly didn`t last very long and I really don`t trust the basic lens any more. And if I can`t even do the screwdrive without buying another camera......
