I may be a little nutty, but I really loved my little Optio M30 pocket cam...but now, sadly, it needs repairs that make it uneconomical to carry out. I have to kiss it goodbye, and thank it for the many lovely photos it took for me, even several ending up on Flickr's Explore pages! I might be asking the impossible, but if anyone has an Optio M30 that they don't use anymore, I would love to purchase it, to replace mine. I am hoping that there is one, somewhere, that needs a new home, if only for its retirement years. I would use it and love it for the great little camera it is, and mine was! If you care to look at my photos on Pentax User, they were all taken with the Optio M30, and you'll see the unmistakeable Pentax quality, even in this small camera, which is why it struck a chord with me.

That's an idea, its always good to have a spare battery anyway. I have to admit I haven't used the M30 very much, only maybe 100 times over the three years. I have also emailed Pentax to see what they think, before I send it off for a checkup. The charge on the battery shows as full at the moment.

Thanks, John, yes, I am within the correct distance ranges for using the macro setting. It has worked in the past, but I haven't used the macro setting for about a year. It could be that the camera needs a general service, as I am also finding now that the playback mode sticks between photos; not all, but some. The battery is fully charged.

I have an Optio M30, 3 years old, so out of warranty. The macro feature has stopped focussing, in any mode. I have hardly used the macro feature, but wanted to start using it much more. Before I enquire with Pentax about possible repair, I am just wondering if there anything I could have done wrong, for this to happen? Any advice is welcome for this amateur photographer!:

The aesthetic pleasure of a real magazine is so much more preferable to a pdf document. But in pdf form, it is going to be preferable to being without the magazine at all, if you are not going to be in one place all the time, as many of us are not. A choice would be a good thing.
