Hi,
I have an Optio M30, 3 years old, so out of warranty. The macro feature has stopped focussing, in any mode. I have hardly used the macro feature, but wanted to start using it much more. Before I enquire with Pentax about possible repair, I am just wondering if there anything I could have done wrong, for this to happen? Any advice is welcome for this amateur photographer!

Thanks!

You could just check that you are within the correct distance ranges to use the macro setting.
Best regards, John

Thanks, John, yes, I am within the correct distance ranges for using the macro setting. It has worked in the past, but I haven't used the macro setting for about a year. It could be that the camera needs a general service, as I am also finding now that the playback mode sticks between photos; not all, but some. The battery is fully charged.

Another thought that maybe if the battery is three years old it is no longer holding sufficent charge? Batteries have a limitede life and 1000 recharges may be enough for it need replacement.
Best regards, John

That's an idea, its always good to have a spare battery anyway. I have to admit I haven't used the M30 very much, only maybe 100 times over the three years. I have also emailed Pentax to see what they think, before I send it off for a checkup. The charge on the battery shows as full at the moment.
Thanks again for the suggestions John.
