My wife and I went on an Alaska Cruise last May.
The last stop was in Victoria BC where we did more shopping (That's why I think we have wife's) On returning to the ship around 7pm loaded to the gills I thought everything had gone through the Xray machine.
This was our final night on board and we packed around midnight. It was only then I noticed my camera missing. I rushed down to the Customer Service desk and lo and behold it had been handed in. On the way down in the elevator was a lady who had left a very expensive diamond ring in one of the ships public bathrooms. (She had taken it off to wash her hands and like me had a senior moment) She did this in the afternoon and did not realize it was missing from her finger until getting ready for bed. It also had been handed in.
Thank god for a couple of honest people.

13. Powerful rechargeable batteries
The K20D features new, large capacity lithium-ion rechargeable batteries, which can capture approximately 740 images***, approximately 50% more compared with conventional one, when fully recharged. Drastic improvement of battery capacity is realized with through energy saving design.

Of course one equation is left out. Software.

If one shoots RAW and gets the basics correct, most images can be made to look excellent. Good software can make JPEGS look great.

We can perform magic with the latest software which will continue to allow those inclined to have performed wonders with the finished image.

Why, we can even make people look thinner using a feature in the K10D.

Yes I agree the top of the line lenses do the best job, however with the exception of Pro's, most of us don't need them except for maybe an ego trip. Plus if one doesn't have a penchant for photography, I don't care what lens one uses, the image will still not be great right out of the camera.

If one is a great photographer and a perfectionist, does not want to fiddle fart around with software, likes to spend the time finding the right spot to frame the image correctly, then by all means use your primes.

For me good zooms are the way to go. I can get my images framed much faster over a great range and take far more shots of the subject at a various distant. Way faster than any prime, when given the fact one either has to change lenses, or positions to get various shots.
Yes, on occasion I do use primes for portraits and buildings.

The 18-250mm is a great lens, not perfect but it does the job if one wants convenience, speed and less chance of missing that once in a lifetime shot.

I guess it all comes down to whatever floats your boat.

Merry Christmas to all,

RG.

Mac,

I have the lens and love it.

Please see other threads on this Forum for comments on the Tamron 18-250mm and the Pentax 18-250mm manufactured by Tamron.

Can't comment on other two lenses as I don't have them to compare.

Someone asked on here a couple of weeks ago to see some images at 18mm

I had posted some test shots with this lens for comments, I guess the ones I posted did not meet their lens test criteria. Namely no 18mm shots.

It is not my criteria, I just wanted a good walk about lens to use at any length I desired with in it's range at various settings.

Anyway here are a couple of 18mm shots I took at around 1.30 PM today.
Blue sky, scattered clouds and cold.

K10D. RAW. Software Aperture.
