2nd shot is my favourite I like the bit of sunlight hitting the boat. Good composition on all of them, but I would say maybe the light is a little dull, I guess all of them would look a lot better in the early or late hours.
Thanks for posting them.

I am going backpacking soon so compactness was my number 1 aim whilst trying to keep at least a fair amount of stability, this is where choosing a tripod becomes tricky. Also when i'm using it at home 90% of my photography is when i'm doing long walks so it will be strapped to my small fastpack so size and weight really are important. I thought about a beanbag etc. but i knew it wouldnt cut it for a lot of things i want to photograph when i'm travelling such as surfing.
froeschle at the bottom of page 5 had some great suggestions for standard tripods.
I have ordered one of these for its size and hopefully it will be ok in the field, i will let you know how i get on with it, it arrives today.
Velbon Ultrek UT-43D
£143 from amazon, when i started looking at tripods a month or so ago i never dreamt of spending that much but after reading reviews etc. i just thought i should bite the bullet and i really hope it will be worth it.

I have had a hama star tripod and it broke after just a few uses so I am unsure the one you linked will be much better i think it is just a bit more money than the cheap star ones cos of the better head.
If anyone has any more suggestions it would be great to hear them.
Thanks

I was wondering if anyone has ever heard of Ben Hall the landscape/wildlife photographer. I have seen a couple of articles about him and they always emphasize the point that he does not digitally manipulate any of his images in any way. I am not sure what this means exactly because when you look at his images the colours have clearly been adjusted as many look highly saturated etc.
Surely shooting in raw and then adjusting in the 'dark room' is counted as digitally manipulating or even jpeg setiings in camera is manipulation.
Don't get me wrong i think manipulation is fine and i'm all for it I just think its a bold statement to make to help you advertise your work. His images are very impressive too I really like them so I am not out to slate him.
A quote from his biography:
All of Ben’s photographs are true representations of what he saw. His images are not digitally manipulated, which is an important part of his philosophy.
Any thoughts?
