Hey all

So new owner of a Pentax K200D (first time on Pentax digital too), so went out last night after work and this afternoon to give it a test run.

so first up is a disused floating restaurant - my favourite subjects are disused/derelict/abandoned things and similar , also architecture.

next up some old railings at a reservoir near Oldham

a petrol pump - sadly prices weren't in line with when this was last used

No they're not that bad! Nothing really sticks out as remarkable though. I do like the colours and textures of the boat, especially the close up with the fern. Framing the shot so that the boat's hull fills the shot, with the fern growing out of it, would be better though IMO.

Good test run! Really nice colours on all these. Enjoy the new kit

I'm particularly partial to a railing photograph (we all have our foibles ) - and great colours on yours, looks a good location. With this depth of field, tho', I wonder if focusing on the second stand might have looked better (throwing nearest one out of focus).

I like these

I haven't had much time lately so not many comments from me - I like the subject matter

I am not the best placed to comment on these though as my shots of this type of thing are usually ordinary at best but these do stand out a little to me.

There are a few members here that make the ordinary look extraordinary IMHO, whilst I won't name them a perusal of the gallery will probably result in them becoming apparent very quickly

Cheers

Stu

p.s. another vote for the k200

I think Pentaxophile has covered the shot with the most potential Nice colours, as Tim said.

You'll have to get used to a relatively low number of comments I'm afraid. We have lots of members who look at images but don't say anything. It can be quite discouraging, but unfortunately that is pretty much standard behaviour on this forum.

Thankfully there are exceptions to this, if you hang around the Your Photos forum you'll soon figure out who they are

I bought a k200d a few months ago and I'm loving it, they really are a bargain.

2nd shot is my favourite I like the bit of sunlight hitting the boat. Good composition on all of them, but I would say maybe the light is a little dull, I guess all of them would look a lot better in the early or late hours.

Thanks for posting them.

I agree with Pentaxophile about the fern growing out of the boat shot. Reframed this would be very graphic. I also enjoyed the old petrol pump picture. Nicely observed.
As for worrying when only a small number of people comment on your images - don't. There are more than 10,000 members here so if they all replied we'd never get through all the posts. A quick run down the forum comments, as suggsted by Tim, shows that when you get 19 replies you are awarded a yellow sticker. And not too many entries get the yellow.

I wouldn't worry about all the views and no responses - it happens on all forums and a lot of it is because there are lots of non-members who view (and can't comment) and there are also plenty of members who view and never post !

Close but no cigar would be my assessment (different composition of the boat & pump perhaps)- but I do love your subject matter so keep at it !

Congrats on your new camera & post more so we can rip them to shreds too - joking, joking !

The first one is very interesting, and a perfect candidate for post-processing experimentation!

Oh don't worry about the lack of replies, for example my post here only got two replies! LOL

Keep on shooting, and do keep on sharing. People may not reply, but rest assured, people will still be viewing it (and making their own comments in their head)>
