So I also read it as the end of the K-mount, with Pentax 'leveraging' the legacy...

But many on the US site are reading it the other way.

K series DSLR cameras as we know them are finished, but the K-mount lives on in the new designs.

A very sad day indeed, but sadly not that unexpected.

I’ve only ever owned and used Pentax gear, so, going forward I guess it’s time to investigate which system to move over to (when my 300mm da* sdm finally dies, that will be the moment I’ll have to make a choice).
You can convert it to screwdrive and be stuck with Pentax forever!

Top set!

#2 is the pick of the bunch, #5 also close. Really good use of the wide FoV.

#2 has a fossilised look to it, almost as though you'd want to run your fingers across it to feel the texture.

The colours on #1 are insane

You've finally dived into the A*135 club - I'm surprised at the few poor experiences (reviews) of this lens. I've been through a bunch of examples and other than purple fringing they've always been pretty much faultless.

Your images on the other thread are outstanding. The Samyang 135 cannot hope to compete with its flat colours and lack of character!!

This is extremely impressive and the results clearly show the process was worth the effort. Wow.

Myself and the little one spotted a few dragonflies at the Lowther Castle gardens. They're so difficult to picture in flight so these are outstanding.

There are two parts to the hotshoe - there may be a decent video tutorial on how to disassemble one.

There's essentially a small 'shaped' bit of metal that covers the screws. To remove it you need a very small flathead screwdriver or prying tool. That fits into a tiny notch between the top left empty contact and the top right metal contact as you look at the hotshoe from the rear. Once you get leverage on the metal plate to lift it slightly, you'll see it can be pulled back over the contacts to remove it.

At that point you can try and tighten the screws gently. The KP and K-1 have a plastic prism cover but I'm not sure whether the K3iii is the same.

KAF4 lenses could be key. You could still have on-sensor AF points and use live-view to get the in-body focus motors to work their magic.

It'd create a pseudo mirrorless mode that could eventually bring Pentax back into that market if it proves successful with our stubborn, viewfinder loving userbase.

The end of the AF module and screwdrive isn't necessarily the end of AF. It's potentially a way to ditch old lenses by creating another 'necessary' product pathway for new tech adopters.
