When I've looked at 'third party' lenses I find very few on the K mount.

I was looking for a reasonably priced 300mm a few years ago and was surprised to find anything longer than that seemed to be only available on canikon mounts.

As for the K-m and Jessops, well you could always try and buy one online!

Lets hope that selling through the Dixons group is a good move.

Argos have always been hit and miss with lens prices, as this shows, I got my Pentax 18-55 with the body and Jacobs list it at £169.99!

Although I think the image is a different lens completely, I've never seen a Xenon 18-55 with an aperture ring!

Hi Gromit, I agree with John that a K100D would be a good choice, in my experience the ist models cost as much used as the latter models.

Why a K100? I have a K110, which is the same camera without shake reduction, and find using manual lenses easy.
If you leave the body in autofocus mode, hold the shutter button fully down, then slowly focus through your chosen point, the camera will take the shot at the optimum moment.
That's a simple starter trick until you get used to focusing by eye.

Don't know if the ist models do this :

Don't worry about Jessops not seelling Pentax,
In Harrogate this morning I left the Sony store, sorry I mean Jessops,( )walked up the street and examined a K-m in Currys.
It seems that the Dixons group are stocking our favourite brand in their stores.

Even PcWORLD!

It might be an alignment issue between the viewfinder and the sensor, or indeed it might be a displacement of the sensor due to SR.
That's what I was wondering, with the K110 I don't have a problem, straight horizons and vertical walls (when sober!)

But since starting to use the K200 this problem has appeared.

I'll just have to learn how to use Photoshop!

The problem on the site, John, is the posts are from 2007 and refer to the K10. They seem to be missing as the links just direct back to the forum lists page.
My question refers to my K200d, I wasn't aware that this had come up 2 years ago!
So, is it a 'sensor at rest' problem or do all K200's do it? Come to that do K20's do it as well?

..but sometimes when I level shots using the guide lines in the view finder they come out with a slight lean. Is this just me, or is it possible that the 'moving' sensor doesn't seat back level?

This is on a K200d.

just looked through the body/lens with the shutter open, it appears to have a fully open aperture so...
Think I'll try a film and take a few test shots when playing out this weekend

Thanks Mac and 'spider, it was when vignetting started, or stopped that I was wondering about. My M lenses only go down to 28mm and I was thinking of playing below that with one of my DAs.
I should have a film in one of the P's in the next few days so, knowing this, I may try the DA at 24mm or below
and yes the older glass on digital......superb!
