Funny that Gwyn, Mt Ventoux will be the start proper, then on around the Luberon for a day or two before heading northish and going over Col de la Bonnette.

All being well I'll get the Cime de Bonnette as well, then on to the wife and a week in Menton via Col de Turini.

Well, it's off to the med again in a few days.

I missed a couple of Cols so am going back to 'tick them off'

Considering that the Egret is the same size as a Grey Heron I'm impressed how they fly along a narrow(ish) canal.

I suppose a larger raptor would struggle, and the fish wouldn't be big enough to support...

While cycling along the Leeds Liverpool canal yesterday, just outside Leeds, we had the pleasure of seeing a Great White Egret.

It stood and watched us pass only a metre or so away.

What an honour.

Southern Sweden has some lovely places, and the swedes are just so nice.

And Denmark has a place for me, either Copenhagen, a wonderfull city, or Roskilde.

Save up and enjoy Scandinavia Gwyn..

...after a little late warmth in Provence.

Tbh I would go to Lofoten instead of the North Cape - it is a bit of an expensive con imho, but I know it is on many people's bucket list.
If you do head up that way make a diversion to Harlingen, and have a cuppa! (or a glass of the local brew :wink

I've seen far too many Youtube videos of people having an 'ADVENTURE' riding to Nord Kapp, but they all start at a ferry port, usually only a couple of hundred miles on the new smooth roads.

I intend doing it by myself, riding all the way and stopping where ever I want.

But that's in the far future, next trip will be in October. I missed out on some wonderfull roads in Provence so will be going back to visit Mont Ventoux, Le Gorge de Verdon, Sisteron and more.

Mrs HG is flying out to Menton for a week and I'll join her there before going across to Nimes and then north.

Planing has started...

That's a good link Gwyn, and it has english options (my German is ...)

I just put my post code in the start and North Cape in the destination and BOOM!

It's a 4393Km ride and should only take 3days 9 hours...

I assume that's continual driving.

Thanks Gwyn, I'll look into those roads.

I intend visiting a few places in the UK over the summer, especially up north from me. After all, the reason I bought Nina was to travel and see New places.

It's hotter here in West Yorks than it was in Menton 2 weeks ago, and that's on the Med!!

The trip was superb, we had hail (yes really!), rain and sun. We drove through snow drifts on the way up to Col d'Iseran and Col Galibier. the food was great, it was France after all, and scenery, well what can I say?

My 'diary' is available here http://www.hardgravity.co.uk/Holidays/RdeGA/p1.htm along with a link to the gallery.

If this is retirement then bring it on, now where next?
