Ah, XP, have you uploaded any updates recently?

When XP became available, many years age, the latest Win98SE updates were suddenly coming from a server which had been 'hacked' and was installing al sorts of malware/crap.

Now I know Microsoft wouldn't do this( )to make people upgrade but...

Before anybody shouts at me, yes I did have a couple of problematic updates just before I moved to Win7.

Is Bullgard Virgin's AV?

Just a thought, is the AV software you're using a Norton product?

I only ask as they're notorious for this sort of behaviour on the run up to licence renewal.

I'll never touch their products again after having nothing but trouble with them, yet PC World seem intent on lumbering every poor soul who buys a system with these tyrannical programs.

Mine are just coming into bloom John.

A lovely shot of a bloom guaranteed to brighten up any day.

A canon user I know took 3000 shots at an air display recently, he's only really happy with 30 or so. Damn good they are too but....

He admits that he shoots too many frames but...

Oh, and he's never used film, why doesn't that surprise me?

The bird looks like a Red-billed Blue Magpie.

Found that out by googling magpies in Asia. Stunning bird, the site the image is on is a bit strange though Stefan.

Anti virus progs are a matter of taste, I use Avira free which seems OK.

As for the virus living in your Ram, no it can't.

RAM is volatile, which means it loses any info when you turn off the machine.

The nasty can survive in your boot sector on your hard drive though!

I had to do a low level format last time I had a virus, don't ask how it's done it was that long ago...

Oh yes, Buttercup Syrup doesn't work on computers..
