Ok, now we know the specs, what it'll do etc of the K5 lets look at something slightly different.

Do I need video?

I don't have a video camera at the moment and was wondering what I'd use one for so...

When in Paris a few years ago we walked past an Indian restaurant. On hearing we were English the doorman asked where we were from.

When we said Bradford he offered to do a 'proper' curry like his brother did in their curry house back home.

We knew the mentioned eatery but declined his offer, instead going for a Chinese.

Coming from here we tend to avoid curries when on holiday. They tend to disappoint us all to often.

Where does this 'bad reputation' come from?

I use a Sigma 18-200 and have no problems with it, like wise several other members have this lens and are happy!

I can only assume somebody on a canikony site didn't like it on their(poorer) body so said it was cr**!

Don't go by hearsay, go by experience. my copy is Fine and I wouldn't put anybody off trying one.

I had the Tamron but found it was rather flat.
I found this, but after updating the software in my K200d I now have no worries at all and love the lens

As Yves says, check how you're post processing the images.

Try adjusting the contrast and colour depth in the camera settings before ditching the standard lens.

As they go the 18-55 Pentax lens is regarded as the best kit lens on the market, I have two and do use them from time to time, with good results, samples here and here.

If you must change then the 16-45 is a highly regarded lens and worth the money.

I have a Sigma 18-200 and use it on my K110d.

The lens performs well, the only thing to note is the 'long' end actually stops around 180mm.

I also have a Tamron 18-250 on my K200d and find this lens more useful, although image quality from both lenses is good.

This was taken with the Tamron and this with the Sigma,

Hope that helps.

Name droppers!

I've met, well, erm, oh yes!

Les Gray from Mud, he was totally paralytic, I had to carry him to his seat!
