I would start by using a higher ISO so you can keep your shutter speed up. 1/125 is a bit on the slow side. You are using ISo 100, when you should be using 400 or 800.
Should have thought of that and a higher shutter speed. Thought that I would only have a chance to grab a few shots and that would be it!

We feel really privileged - happened to chance on a Red Kite near Millington Woods this afternoon and spent 10 minutes watching the magnificent bird swirling across the fields looking for food (usually we see such wonderful birds and they disappear immediately). They say a picture paints a 1,000 words. Well, mine only paint about a 100. Used a Tamron 18-250mm zoom lens at its limit on my K-s2. These photos are cropped and not in focus but are the best I could do. What lens do I need to get to get better BIF pix pls without spending a fortune? (BTW, I have tried a 500mm mirror lens and could not get on with it!) . . . . .

Having taken kit in bags on motorbikes in days of yore I quickly learnt that bags, whatevere claims made by the shops, were NEVER waterproof - esp paniers on a motorbike.
Hence my habit of wrapping valuable kit in plastic bags inside my main camera bag or rucksack - a habit which i still do today, even thought my biking days are long gone.
Hope your kit is OK or replaced properly

It, obviously, comes up a bit short when trying to do bird photography.
Would a lens like a Tamron 70-300mm F/4-5.6 be of any benefit or am I better off going for something else longer and more expensive?
Doesn't have to be a zoom.
Some of the bird photographers had lenses that seemed to look like rocket launchers - don't think that I can afford one of them yet!
It seems that lenses to fit Pentax cameras are not being made as they used to be by the independent makers and so 2nd hand is where I will probably look next.
Thanks for your thoughts folks.
