Just in case anyone didn't appreciate my post re "Half frame, sneers and curled lip" it was intended as humour that might appeal to people who entered photography in the film era. The smiley face gizmo's should have given a clue. Sorry if anyone was annoyed or upset.
What I do with my photography hobby is limited by what I can justify financially, and the amount of time I can dedicate to "taking photos" and later photo editing. This means that I am best off with just one decent camera and some lenses for it, and need what suits me best as an optimum balance between portability and potential image quality. A camera is no good if I don't like taking it with me!
"Back in the day" you could buy a camera brand's budget camera in the range, and the best lenses and films you could get in a search for image quality that satisfied you.
With digital you tend to have to buy a top model camera to get the best sensor......shame sensor's aren't 'upgradeable' without changing a camera.
After years of conditioning and experimentation I settled on 35mm film format slrs as the best compromise for me, and it's still ingrained in me. I "think" in 35mm full frame size!
I'm hoping this K-1 will satisfy, and might be a camera I keep for a few years.

It wouldn't cause offence if we started calling them that after we get our K-1s would it?

I don't see any future in me maintaining two systems, I simply don't seem to have the time.
I DID have a12-24, 17-50 and 50-135 crop frame lenses, now I have 12-24, 24-70, 100mm macro and 150-500mm full frame. All the full frame lenses work on the crop factor bodies, so I can't see me using the crop factor bodies much. I'll just keep the K-01 as an emergency back up.
K-3 silver with grip, 50-135 with new sensor and motor, Leica 24d flash and some other bits and pieces to go onto Ebay soon as I am entirely happy with K-1.
Graham.

Mine has reached Cornwall's Parcelforce depot. 7 am, so is within 50 miles!
First impressions,,,it's black, very black....a bit bigger all round than the K-3. Adjusted viewfinder to suit eye. Big viewfinder, lots of clever stuff...fitted my O-ME53 magnifying eyecup, even better!!!
Fitted an Op Tech strap and adjusted to suit,
Been going through the menus, setting my preferences.
Thank you SRS Microsystems for good communication, a good deal and prompt service.
Than you Ricoh for making it.
