OK Guys,

You've convinced me... I'll grab a K100D at the weekend and start saving for a suitable fisheye zoom to replace my old sigma gamma.

I'm still not happy with the thought of the CCD wobbling around but call me a Luddite and smack me with a kipper I may learn to love it.

As a digital SLR newbie I had foolishly assumed that lenses would work pretty much the same as far as focal length was concerned but I guess that the CCD is smaller than 35mm so your 1.5 ratio makes sense.

(Approximate 1.5 presumably because different manufacturers use different size CCDs - damn technology - I now need to re-calibrate my brain just because they are too mean to make 35mm CCDs)

I guess this means that my fisheye zoom will behave pretty strangely - all distortion and not so much angle - which is a bit unfortunate and scuppers my dream of simply re-using my beloved old K mounts.

I guess this goes a long way to explain why the vendors are pushing lenses with the bodies at entry level.

I have managed for a long time without SR (I like wide angles and rarely go tele) and the digital speed is a whole lot faster than Ektachrome so why would I need it? Especially when the 110 is now cheaper than the 100 - only 300 quid from Amazon - maybe if I wait a few months they will become even cheaper

I am thinking about buying either a K100D or a K110D so that I can use my old K mount lenses.

Problem #1 is nobody appears to sell these as body only and I don't particularly want the 18 to 55mm zoom that is usually bundled. Seems a peculiar range to me - my old 28 to 70mm is lightweight and means that I rarely changed lenses.

Problem #2 is that I am less than clear about the shake reduction system on the K100D. Apparantly it needs to know the focal length of the lens. So how will this work with my old zoom lenses?

Is there a downside to the wobbly CCD shake reduction system? Is turning it off easy? Is turning it off the same as not having it? Why do some vendors charge more for the K110D than the K100D? Is shake reduction the only difference between them?
