Because of the lack of interest in the 35/2.8 in its current state, I have decided to get it repaired by a local technician. I'll update the price and availability when known.

Also, an update, the 58/2 is in M42 mount. NOT K-mount. My apologies for not mentioning this earlier.

The camera body is still up for grabs, if anyone wants it! Aperture priority m42 bodies are few and far between at this price, so don't miss your chance!

this whole no difference between 1.7 and 1.4 comes from a luminous landscape article: luminous landscape article.

while i follow the reasoning, i think his explanation is jumping to conclusions. i can certainly see a difference between 1.7 and 1.4.

i would always go for the f/1.4. i'm a speed-freak. every little counts. sharpness and field-curvature means little to me, so long as it's 'good', it's 'good enough', and most primes are good enough. it's all about the background rendering.

200/2.8 no longer for sale.

i've agonised over it, and decided that even though i don't use it as often as i want to, that it's too good an optic to let go of, and i would probably want it again in the future.

sorry for misleading anyone!

Forgot to mention: trades involving a black 31/1.8 FA Limited are gladly considered, with cash to even out any unevenness, depending on what exactly is involved in the trade.

Hi all,

I've been bitten. I want a 31/1.8.

To fund it, I'm going to sell some of my lesser used lenses. The 35/2.8 DA limited, and 200/2.8 DA*.

The 200/2.8 is in excellent condition, cosmetically and optically. Hardly any fault anywhere. Comes with box, pouch, manual etc. I will not sell it with the receipt, though, because I have my 15/4 and 70/2.4 on the same receipt, so I'd like that for myself. I can make a copy for you, though. I'm looking for 600 GBP.

The 35/2.8 does not have a receipt, since I got it off a trade from a fellow forumer. It's in excellent condition, cosmetically and optically. There is a small mark on lens cap, but I hope that's not a problem. There is one issue with the lens: focussing is a bit stiff if you turn from close-up toward infinity. I don't have the receipt. You might be able to get it fixed cheaply at Asahi Photo UK. However, my K7 autofocus is unaffected by the stiffness, and operates normally. It's just a bit annoying to manually focus. Because of this fault, I offer a suitably discounted price: 220 GBP.

The 58/2 Helios is a Russian gem. It's the auto version. It's in great condition, optically and cosmetically. Because it's the auto version, it is a bit tricky to stop it down unless you want to do some surgery to it. I'm looking for 15 GBP for it.

I also have a no-name 100 (ish) f/2 lens in m42 mount meant for a Russian nightscope. This is a lens with loads of character. It has a large amount of field curvature that gives it a Lensbaby feel to it. I posted some shots from it in the ten quid lens thread (even though it was more expensive than a tenner!) link. I'm looking for 30 GBP.

I also have a m42 body. A Revueflex AC1, which operates in aperture priority too. I have only put one roll of film through it, which I have yet to get developed, so I can't comment on light leaks quite yet, but the previous seller gave me assurances that it's completely useable, and he used it until mid-last year without problems. I'm looking for 30 GBP for it.

I have a m42 135/3.5 Zeiss Jena. The aperture blades are stuck. I'll throw it in for free with the first successful sale

Shoot a PM across if you want specific details, or ask a question in this thread. I'll put pictures from/of lenses up on request, but I don't put them all up at once because otherwise this post gets a bit too long!

I live in the Netherlands, where I am happy to do face to face sales. Postage within the EU is fine with me. I accept PayPal (either gift, or you can cover the fees) cash in hand, or bank transfer.

Thanks for reading!

i generally only carry my 15/4 and 70/2.4 around, but now i really want to carry around a fast normal again.

i wanted to find more comparisions of the 31/1.8 fa ltd and the siggie, and i found this french test: link.

essentially, i think the sigma is a bargain. i don't think the tester got the ins and outs spot on, but the sample images are certainly illustrative.

i'd summarise it as follows: the pros for the pentax are build, size, and even sharpness across the frame. the cons against the pentax are longtiduinal chromatic abberration and purple fringing. the sigma lets down in terms of edge sharpness, but it is getting somewhere good on the edges at f/8. oddly, the tester found that the sigma focussed more accurately than the pentax. perhaps this has to do with the sigma being tested stopped down, whereas the pentax was being tested wide open.

that sort of summarises this thread really, doesn't it? the sigma is great at the centre at all apertures, and if you're shooting a landscape, go to f/8.
